in us. In the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, Amen.
Welcome to 2026. This month's teaching, What is the stability
of our times?, is based on Isaiah 33:6:
And
wisdom and knowledge shall be the stability of thy times, and
strength of salvation: the fear [respect] of the Lord is
his treasure.
Note:
The sources for all Greek-English Words are Strong's Exhaustive
Concordance of the Bible, The Critical Lexicon and Concordance
to the English and Greek New Testament (Bullinger), Young's
Analytical Concordance to the Bible, The Word Study Concordance
by George V. Wigram and Ralph D. Winter, The
Bible Hub, and Webster's Desk Dictionary of the English
Language.
In
our verse, Isaiah 33:6, the Hebrew Word 'owsarow is our English
word stability, which means dependability, steadiness, permanence,
solidity, and unchangeable. This stability is from Jehovah
God in the relationship to what He created. There is a profound
sense of peace and security that comes from a relationship with
Him. Isaiah 33:6 emphasizes that true stability is from the
wisdom and knowledge of God's Word! This stability
is unchangeable; it is a foundation for enduring life's challenges
and is a promise of God's defense and support during difficult times.
The stability of our times is dependent upon of the ways
in which the Word of God lives and is manifested in and by God's
children (see Romans 8:16 and 1 John 3:2).
Currently, there is nothing stable about the kingdoms of the world.
One kingdom of the world is the United States. There is nothing
stable about gas and food prices, the stock market, and the U.S.
government. You can look at the kingdoms in Europe, Asia, and other
countries and see there is nothing stable about the world, people.
Why? Because they are not built upon the truth of God's Word! The
truth of God's Word is a constant, and it is unchangeable. Why?
Because it is written in Malachi 3:6:
For
I am the Lord [Jehovah], I change not.
The
Word Lord is the Hebrew Word Jehovah which means God
in relationship to that which He has created. This verse tells us
that Jehovah changes not! If Jehovah doesn't change, then His Word
does not change! It is written in John 17:17:
Sanctify
them through thy truth: thy word is truth.
The
truth of God's Word is what sets apart God's children. The truth
of God's Word is constant. The stability of our times is
the truth of God's Word in the hearts and souls of God's children
(see Romans 8:16 and 1 John 3:2). The truth of God's Word is unchangeable
and stable. God's Word is pure (see Psalm 12:6), perfect (see Psalm
19:7), and God magnified His Word above all His names (see Psalm
138:2)! Remember, all scriptures are given by inspiration of God
(see 2 Timothy 3:16). It is written in 2 Peter 1:21:
For
the prophecy [scriptures] came not in old [any] time
by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved
by the Holy Ghost [holy spirit].
Titus
1:2:
In
hope of eternal life, which God, that cannot lie, promised before
the world began.
Let
us review Isaiah 33:5-6, which is written for our learning to increase
our understanding of Jehovah's Word and provide stability
in our time. Romans 15:4 reminds us that:
For
whatsoever things were written aforetime [before Pentecost
- Acts 2:4] were written for our learning, that we through
patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope.
It
is written in Isaiah 33:5:
The
Lord [Jehovah] is exalted; for he dwelleth on high: he
hath filled Zion [the land of Israel] with judgment and
righteousness.
In
this verse, the word Lord is the Hebrew Word Jehovah,
which is God in relationship to that which He has created. The word
exalted is the action of praising someone or something highly.
It is a state of extreme happiness. The word judgment means
the process of making decisions or pronouncements of justice. And
the word righteousness means moral uprightness. With this
deeper understanding of the words in Isaiah 33:5, let's re-read
this verse.
The
Lord, Jehovah, God in relationship to that which He has created,
is exalted with extreme happiness; for he dwelleth on high: he
hath filled Zion, the land of Israel, with justice and moral uprightness.
Let's
continue with Isaiah 33:6:
And
wisdom and knowledge shall be the stability of thy times, and
strength of salvation: the fear of the Lord is his treasure.
Now,
let's understand the words used in this verse. Remember, the purpose
of a Biblical word study is to determine the exact meaning of a
word or group of words as God used it in each context. We do a word
study of the Greek word used in the New Testament (Hebrew for the
Old Testament) rather than the English word, because we are interested
in the original Biblical usage of the word. Therefore, we want to
get back, as close as possible, to the original meaning of the word
and gain wisdom regarding God's Word. The word wisdommeans
to discern, to perceive, to discern mentally, to understand, to
have understanding, to be intelligent, wise. In practical sense
wisdom is knowledge applied. Increasing our wisdom (and knowledge
applied), in Isaiah 33:6 the word:
- knowledge
means to know.
- stability
means firmness; security; faithfulness.
- salvation
is wholeness.
- fear
is reverence or respect, or awe.
- Lord
is Jehovah or God in relationship to that which He created.
- treasure
means laid up and emphasizes the idea that spiritual richness
and moral integrity can be built, nurtured, and safeguarded throughout
life.
Now,
let's re-read Isaiah 33:6 for wisdom so that we can apply the knowledge
learned:
The
wisdom and knowledge of Jehovah shall absolutely be the stability
and firmness of our times! And the strength of wholeness and the
respect, reverence and awe of Jehovah is our laid-up treasure!
Bless
the Lord, oh my soul! Can you see how this word study breathes God's
love and wisdom into each word? It is written in Exodus 6:3:
And
I appeared unto Abraham, unto Isaac, and unto Jacob, by the name
of God Almighty, but by my name Jehovah was I not known to them.
Abraham,
Isaac, and Jacob did not know the name Jehovah (God in relationship
to that which he created). They did not know He took care of them,
protected them, and provided for them. The first usage of the word
Jehovah appears in Genesis 2:4:
These
are the generations of the heavens and of the earth when they
were created, in the day that the Lord [Jehovah] God made
the earth and the heavens.
As
discussed previously, the word Lord is Jehovah which means
God in relationship to that which He created. In this verse, the
word God is the Hebrew word Elohim meaning creator.
The reference can be tracked back to Genesis 1:1:
In
the beginning God [Elohim] created the heaven and
the earth.
During
their time, the Judeans would never speak the word Jehovah
as it was too holy of a name for them to speak. To overcome this,
they added the word Lord before Jehovah or they just
skipped over it.
In
Isaiah 33:5, it's not the exaltation of Elohim but of Jehovah
which is God in relationship to that which He has created! When
we exalt Jehovah in our daily walk and talk, we receive His stability
which becomes a treasure that gets laid up and is
built, nurtured, and safeguarded throughout life.
It
is written in Psalm 19:9:
The
fear [awe, reverence, respect] of the Lord [Jehovah]
is clean, enduring forever: the judgments of the Lord [Jehovah]
are true and righteous altogether.
Given
our understanding of the words used in this verse, let's re-read
it for greater understanding:
The
awe, reverence, respect of Jehovah, God in relationship to that
which He created, is pure, enduring forever. The judgments of
the Lord, Jehovah, are true and righteous altogether.
It
is written in Psalm 111:10:
The
fear [awe, reverence, respect] of the Lord [Jehovah]
is the beginning of wisdom: a good understanding have all they
that do his commandments: his praise endureth forever.
Going
back our theme for this month - What is the stability of our
times? - we can begin to understand why there is no stability
in the kingdoms in our world. Most people, whether it be in the
administration of the kingdom or the general public, do not have
awe, reverence, and respect for the Lord, Jehovah. Therefore, there
is no wisdom of Jehovah. The ability to discern, to perceive, to
discern mentally, to understand, to have understanding, to be intelligent,
wise is not there. If there is no wisdom, then there is no knowledge
applied. Why is this? Because the administration of the kingdom
or the general public do not know, read, or apply God's Word in
their daily walk and talk. And if they do not have wisdom of God's
Word, there is no good understanding of his commandments and
God's praise cannot endure forever.
I ask
again What is the stability of our times? We get stability
when we have awe, reverence, and respect for Jehovah. This is the
beginning of wisdom; it occurs when we increase our understanding
as we practice His commandments or apply the knowledge we gain from
His Word. The stability in our times is when God's praise
endured forever!
It
is written in Proverbs 2: 6:
For
the Lord [Jehovah] giveth wisdom: out of his mouth cometh
knowledge and understanding.
My
fellow born-again believers, if you want Jehovah's wisdom, knowledge
and understanding, you must know Jehovah's Word! What is true
wisdom? We must go to God's Word to find out. It is written
in James 3:17:
But
the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle,
and easy to be intreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without
partiality, and without hypocrisy.
This
verse tells us that the true wisdom from God, Elohim,
the creator is:
-
Pure
- Peaceable
- Gentle
- Easy
to be intreated (to earnestly request or plead with someone)
- Full
of mercy
- Good
fruits
- Without
partiality
- Without
hypocrisy
It
is written in Proverbs 1:7:
The
fear [awe, reverence, respect] of the Lord [Jehovah]
is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and
instruction.
Here,
we learn that the awe, reverence, and respect for Jehovah is the
beginning of knowledge! Most people in our country have no awe,
reverence, and respect for Jehovah, and therefore there is no knowledge
of Him as it is written in the Bible. Oh, they may quote scripture
out of context or provide their own interpretation of what that
Bible verse may mean, but they do not rightly divide the Word. They
do not fully explore the meaning of God's Word as centered in the
cultural context, original word meaning, and spiritual relevance.
So, what do these people do when confronted with the Word? They
despise the wisdom and instruction of Jehovah. They hem and
haw and sputter and say, "That is what God's Word means."
They do not hold God's Word, and the beginning of knowledge
with awe, reverence, and respect.
And
this is the answer to the question - What is the stability of
our times? The stability, the dependability, steadiness,
permanence, solidity, unchangeable, is from Jehovah's Word. There
is a profound sense of peace and security that comes from a relationship
with God through His Word. Remember, Isaiah 33:6 emphasizes that
true stability is from the wisdom and knowledge of
God's Word!
It
is written in Proverbs 12:1:
Whoso
loveth instruction loveth knowledge: but he that hateth reproof
is brutish.
A person
cannot know or have the knowledge of God's Word without instruction!
We need someone to teach us God's Word! As we learn God's Word,
we love not only the instruction, but the knowledge of God's Word!
However, the first thing we must do is become born-again of God's
Spirit. Without God's Spirit, we cannot know the Word of God because
that wisdom and knowledge is spiritual discernment. It is
written in 1 Corinthians 2:14:
But
the natural man [body and soul only] receiveth not the
things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him:
neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.
Without
the Spirit of God in you, it is impossible to receive the things
of the Spirit of God. Why? Because they are spiritually discerned.
And how do I receive the Spirit of God? It is written in Romans
10:9-10:
That
if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt
believe in thine heart [inner most part of your being] that
God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved [made
whole].
For
with the heart [inner most part of your being] man believeth
unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto
salvation.
It
is written in Colossians 1:27:
To
whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this
mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of
glory.
So,
the stability of our times, our life, the strength of our
salvation and wholeness, is built upon the foundation of being born-again
and is fed, nurtured, and grows through the wisdom and knowledge
we gain from God's Word. It is from the awe, reverence, and respect
we have for Jehovah as our treasure! God, Jehovah, always makes
available to us the truth of:
-
wisdom
- knowledge
- judgment
- righteousness
It
is written in Isaiah 32:1:
Behold,
a king shall reign in righteousness, and princes shall rule in
judgment.
This
verse reminds us that a king shall reign in what? Righteousness.
And princes shall rule in what? judgment. So, anytime
we have those in authority not reigning in God's righteousness
and ruling in God's judgment, we have no stability!
Just look at the United States and other countries, do you honestly
see righteousness and judgment accordingly to God's
Word?
Isaiah
32:2:
And
a man shall be as an hiding place from the wind and a covert from
the tempest; as rivers of water in a dry place, as the shadow
of a great rock in a weary land.
Only
when a person reigns with Jehovah's righteousness and judgment
can they be as an hiding place from the wind, a covert [a
place of shelter, protection, or hiding. It is often used metaphorically
to describe God's protection over His people] from the tempest,
as rivers of water in a dry place and as the shadow of a great rock
in a weary land!
Oh,
my soul longs for the true judgment, true righteousness, true wisdom,
and true knowledge of Jehovah!
In
this teaching of January 2026, we learned:
- Jehovah
cannot change.
- When
we have awe, reverence, and respect for Jehovah we have the beginning
of wisdom.
- Once
we have the beginning of wisdom, we must practice God's commandments
and His Word so that His praise may endure forever.
- Jehovah's
wisdom and knowledge shall absolutely be the stability and firmness
of our times!
- The
strength of our wholeness and the respect, reverence, and awe
of Jehovah is our laid-up treasure!
- Jehovah's
true judgment, true righteousness, true wisdom, and true knowledge
are the stability of our times.
Father,
we are so grateful and thankful for Your wisdom and knowledge, which
is the stability of our times and the strength of our salvation.
As we reverence you, Father, and seek Your true judgment, true righteousness,
true wisdom, and true knowledge, we can be as a hiding place from
the wind, a cover from the tempest, as rivers of water in a dry
place, and as the shadow of a great rock in our country today. In
the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, Amen.
We
wish you the stability, the dependability, steadiness, permanence,
solidity, unchangeable, that comes from Jehovah's Word. The Word
of God is the Will of God.
