MOR-Bible,
which is by God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. May God's
grace, unmerited divine favor, and peace, an absolute end of all
strife or trouble, be to you from God our Father and from the Lord
Jesus Christ, to the faithful in Christ Jesus.
Father, we are so grateful and thankful to you for what you have
done for us in Christ. Thank you for how you have made us absolutely
complete in Christ. Thank you, Father, for making us joint heirs
with Christ by your grace. Father, I pray our walk reflects the
Christ in us in our day and time, to the glory of you. In the name
of our Lord Jesus Christ, Amen.
This month's teaching is on You are Complete in Him and focuses
on Colossians 2:10. We will work to understand Colossians 2:1-10,
and in doing so:
- Define
the word condemnation as used in the Bible.
- Understand
there is no condemnation in Christ Jesus.
- Learn
to confess what the Word of God declares you are.
Let's
start by understanding the meaning of the word condemnation
in the original text of the Bible. The word condemnation is the
Greek word katakrima which means judgment. The root word
in the Greek is katakrinó meaning to condemn, to judge
against, to pass sentence upon.
Let's understand the how & why there is no condemnation to
them which are in Christ Jesus. First, turn to Romans 8:1:
There
is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus,
[the rest of the verse is omitted from the text] who walk
not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.
This
verse tells us, very clearly, there is therefore, right now
in our day and time, no condemnation or judgment or passing
sentencing upon them which are in Christ Jesus! God has made
us complete in Christ! This verse tells us all we need to know;
now we need to act on our completeness in Christ. We have magnified
sin and condemnation above God's redemption and completeness in
Christ!
Note:
The sources for all Greek-English words are Strong's Exhaustive
Concordance of the Bible, The Critical Lexicon and Concordance
to the English and Greek New Testament (Bullinger), Young's

Hub, and Webster's Desk Dictionary of the English Language.
Now
to Colossians - it is written to correct doctrine error for not
following the doctrine as presented in Ephesians. Let's keep this
in mind as we review what is written in Colossians 2:1-10. We will
read the first two verses to establish our foundation of study.
For
I [Paul] would that ye knew what great conflict I have for you,
and for them at Laodicea, and for as many as have not seen my
face in the flesh;
That
their hearts might be comforted, being knit together in love,
and unto all riches of the full assurance of understanding, to
the acknowledgement of the mystery of God, and of the Father,
and of Christ.
[Bold added for emphasis.]
The
phrase might be comforted is the Greek word parakaleó
which means to call to one's side, to exhort, to encourage, to comfort,
to urge. We see in these verses that our hearts are encouraged and
strengthened when they are knitted together in the love of God,
in the renewed mind in manifestation, unto abounding riches of
full assurance of understanding to the acknowledgement of the mystery
of God.
And
what is the mystery of God? Ephesians 3:6 tells us that the
Gentiles should be fellow heirs, and of the same body, and partakers
of God's promise in Christ by the gospel. And 2 Corinthians 5:19
and Colossians 1:27 tell us it is God in Christ in you. God's Word
tells us we are to be comforted to the acknowledgement that
we are fellow heirs and have God in Christ in us! Wow!
Colossians 2:3 continues to say:
In
whom [the Father and Christ] are hid all the treasures
of wisdom and knowledge.
If
you want the treasures of wisdom and knowledge, you must
have knowledge of God and of Christ! And to have this knowledge,
we are encouraged and strengthened.
Colossians 2:4-5:
And
this I [Paul] say, lest any man should beguile [deceive]
you with enticing [persuasive] words.
For though I be absent in the flesh, yet am I with you in the
spirit, joying and beholding your order [operation], and
the steadfastness of your faith [believing] in Christ.
Paul
said, by word of knowledge in the Father and of Christ are hid
all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge. We are not to be
deceived with people's persuasive words. And though Paul was absent
in the flesh with the Colossians, he was with them in the spirit,
joying and beholding their operation, and the steadfastness
of their believing in Christ, the resurrected one who
sat down at the right hand of God. Once again, these words were
to bring comfort, not condemnation, to the Colossians as Paul continued
to teach and confront them for not adhering to the doctrine in Ephesians.
Let's continue reading Colossians 2:6:
As
ye have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk ye in
him.
When
did we received Christ Jesus the Lord? When we confessed with our
mouth the Lord Jesus and believed in our hearts that God had raised
him from the dead, we were saved (see Romans 10: 9-10). Now, Paul
tells us that once we are saved and filled to overflowing with the
gift of holy spirit (see Acts 2:38), we are to walk in Christ
Jesus the Lord. How do we walk in Christ Jesus the Lord?
Read verse 7:
Rooted
and built up in him [Christ Jesus the Lord] and established
in the faith [the family faith], as ye have been taught, abounding
therein with thanksgiving.
Let
us re-read verse 7 with a deeper understanding:
To
become stable in our walk, we, the believing believers, must be
rooted in God's Word. We must be built up in Christ Jesus the
Lord, the resurrected one, who sat down at the right hand of God,
secure in the family faith, as we have been instructed, exceling
therein with gratitude.
What
does this tell us? We are rooted and built up in Christ Jesus the
Lord. We are established, secure, and confirmed in the family faith.
The family faith is what we all received when we were born-again
of God's Spirit (Romans 10:9-10). It is called the faith of Jesus
Christ. It is given to all them who believed (Galatians 3:22).
Remember, an established believer is one who has been taught the
knowledge of the truth of God's Word (see 1 Timothy 2:4). An established
believer is one who has kept like a treasure their believing (see
2 Timothy 4:7). And an established believer is steadfast, unmovable,
always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as they know
that their labor is not in vain in the Lord (see 1 Corinthians 15:58).
Does this describe you? Are you an established believer?
To become an established believer, we must renew our minds with
God's Word (see Romans 12:2)! We need to study to show ourselves
approved unto God rightly dividing God's Word and take action (see
2 Timothy 2:15). What actions can we take? We memorize God's Word.
We make God's Word our standard for life! We must be rooted in God's
Word! We must say, It is written, and act on the written
Word of God! And once we hear and renew our minds to the Word of
God and act on it, we receive God's power, blessing, and deliverance
in our lives!
Colossians 2:8:
Beware
lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after
the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not
after Christ.
The
word beware is the Greek word blepó which means
tTo see, to look at, to behold, to perceive. So, we are to beware
lest any man spoil you through what? The verse lists four (4)
things:
- Philosophy
or worldly wisdom; sense knowledge.
- Vain
or empty deceit or deception.
- After
the tradition or to deliver, handing over of men [and women].
- After
the rudiments
or outward ordinances of the world's order.
The
number four (4) represents the world number in the Bible; it is
God's creative works. This number always references all that was
created. It is the number of material completeness. With this understanding,
we go back to Colossians 2:8 and recognize that the four (4) items
listed are not about Christ, the resurrected one who sat down at
the right hand of God! They represent four things in this world.
Now,
let's re-read this verse with understanding:
Behold,
perceive, take heed, and consider lest any man spoil you through
worldly wisdom (sense knowledge and empty deception) after the
handing over of men, after the outward ordinances of the world
order and not after Christ, the resurrected one who sat down at
the right hand of God!
Colossians
2:9:
For
in him [Christ] dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead
[head God] bodily.
The
Bible declares there are two Gods. The God and Father of our Lord
Jesus Christ and the god of this world Satan. Ephesians 1:3 tells
us:
Blessed
be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed
us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ.
And
2 Corinthians 4:4 explains:
In
whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which
believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ,
who is the image of God, should shine unto them.
Colossians
2:9 states that it is in Christ, the resurrected one who sat down
at the right hand of God, the one supreme whom is the fountain of
life and light dwells, all the fullness and completion, of the head
God, and the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Colossians
2:10:
And
ye are complete in him [Christ], which is the head of all
principality and power:
The
word complete is the Greek word pléroó
and means to fill, to make full, to complete, to fulfill to capacity.
God's Word says we are complete, fully filled to capacity in Christ,
who is raised from the dead and set down at God, his Father's, right
hand in the heavenly places. We lack nothing in this world! We are
completely, absolutely complete in Christ! This is tremendous! That
is edifying! This is empowering! Now, if we say anything different
than what God's Word declares, we are liars. As it is written in
Romans 3:4:
God
forbid yea, let God be true, but every man a liar.
It
is written in Ephesians 1:20-23:
Which
he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and set
him at his own right hand in the heavenly places,
Far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion,
and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also
in that which is to come:
And hath put all things under his [Christ] feet, and gave
him to be the head over all things to the church,
Which is his body, the fulness [completeness] of him that
filleth all in all.
God's
Word declares it is Christ in you the hope of glory (see Colossians
1:27)!
So, going back to Colossians 2:10 and adding Ephesians 1:21-22 for
more clarity. . .we are complete in him [Christ], which
is the head of all principality and power; we are far above all
principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name
that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is
to come: And hath put all things under our feet. Why? Because
of the Christ in us (Colossians 1:27)!
People, everything that God did for Christ, He did for us His children
(see 1 John 3:2)! We are joint heirs with Christ (see Romans 8:17)!
We are absolutely, completely, complete in Christ (see Colossians
2:10)! These are marvelous truths, people! Wherever you go, God
in Christ goes with you. Whatever you face in this life, God in
Christ faces it with you! Remember, Philippians 4:13? I can do all
thing through Christ who strength or empowers me! It is written
in Romans 8:17:
And
if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ;
if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified
together.
We
are told to confess what the Word of God declares we are. Have we
read anywhere that we are to condemn ourselves or judge ourselves?
No! We are heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ. This
message is important! It is written in Proverbs 23:7:
For
as he thinketh in his heart, so is he.
This
should blow your mind! What we confess, we will become. Why? Because
what you confess comes from your thinking. What you think is in
your heart! When we confess the Word of God in our life, we will
take action on it. And when we take action, we will receive positive
results. Conversely, if you confess the negative things of this
world and act on them, they shall be manifested in our lives! When
we condemn ourselves or judge ourselves not to be worthy, then guess
what? We will walk that talk. It is written in Romans 10:9-10:
That
if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt
believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead,
thou shalt be saved.
For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with
the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
What
you believe in your heart and confess with your mouth you shall
absolutely have in your life! Think it! Act it! Be it! And do we
confess? God's Word is clear. We must confess we are complete in
Christ. As for as God is concerned, you are absolutely, complete
in Christ! It is your choice to think in your heart and confess,
I am complete in Christ! For we walk by believing, not
by sight (see 2 Corinthians 5:7)! Say it with me loud and strong!
I am complete in Christ! For we walk by believing, not
by sight. Amen!
This
month's teaching theme was You are Complete in Him. We learned
there is no condemnation or judgment to them that are in Christ
Jesus (see Romans 8:1). We reviewed for understanding Colossians
2:1-10. We learned from our review that we are absolutely, complete
in Christ (see Colossians 2:10). And we must confess and act on
what the Word of God declares we are to manifest our completeness
in Christ! We learned that what we believe in our heart and confess
with our mouth, we shall absolutely have in our life!
Let
us pray. Dear Father, I confess it is God in Christ in me! I confess
it is God who is at work in me. I pray and believe thanks be unto
God, which will always cause me to triumph in Christ! I am thankful
and take action, God our Father, according to your Word. Father,
you said that you will always cause me to triumph in Christ! Be
it unto me according to your Word! And Father, we cease not to give
thanks for the believing believers, making mention of them in our
prayers. We ask you, the Father of glory, to give unto us the spirit
of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of you. May our eyes of
understanding being enlightened, may we know what the hope of your
calling is, and what the riches of the glory of your inheritance
in your children. May we know what the exceeding greatness of your
power to us who believe is, according to the working of your mighty
power, which you wrought in Christ, when you raised him from the
dead, and set him at your own right hand in the heavenly places.
Father, we pray for more boldness to confess what your Word declares
we are and what we can do in Christ. In the name of our Lord Jesus
Christ, Amen.
The
Word of God is the Will of God!
