MOR-Bible,
which is by God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. God's unmerited
divine favor be to you and peace an absolute end of all strife or
trouble, from God our Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ to
the faithful in Christ Jesus.
I thank my God always on your behalf, for the grace of God which
is given to you by Jesus Christ. It is through him we have access
to the Father and have received eternal life. Father, thank you
that your grace and truth came by Jesus Christ, your only begotten
son. Father, we endeavor to walk in your grace and truth as he did.
Father, thank you for opening our understanding of the usages of
the name Jesus Christ and what we have received and what we can
do in the name of Jesus Christ, your only begotten son. In the name
of our Lord Jesus Christ, Amen.
In this month's teaching, we will search the scriptures for some
of the usages of the combination of the Greek words Iesous
and Christos used together for our English phrase "Jesus
Christ" from the book of Romans. The name Jesus preceded
by Christ puts the emphasis on his earthly life and walk. The name
Christ means anointed. The phrase or name combination of Jesus Christ
means Jesus the humbled one who is now exalted, and whose name is
above every name. In this teaching, we will bold the phrase Jesus
Christ for emphasis.
The
book of Romans is placed first among the other two doctrine epistles
(i.e., Ephesians and Thessalonians) because it sets the starting
point, the beginning, the foundation for the "all truth"
which Christ announced he would send after his ascension. See March
2019 teaching.
In
Romans, the natural man of body and soul is shown to be completely
corrupt and entirely powerless in sin, walking by his flesh. In
contrast, by God's grace through Jesus Christ, the believer is justified
and glorified from sin. The believer receives the righteousness
of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ (see Romans 3:22). In Romans
3:25, we learn:
Whom
God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith [believing]
in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission
of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God.
The
book of Romans provides us much information about our place with
God.
- We
are heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ (Romans 8:17).
- And
nothing shall be able to separate us from the love of God,
which is in Christ Jesus our Lord (Romans 8:39).
- How
to be saved (Romans 10:9).
Without
being saved or born-again of God's spirit we cannot receive the
things of the Spirit of God. Turn to 1 Corinthians 2:14:
But
the natural man [body and soul only] receiveth not the
things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him:
neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.
Romans
1:1:
Paul,
a servant [slave] of Jesus Christ, called to be
an apostle, separated unto the gospel of God.
Paul,
a servant, or slave of who? Jesus Christ, the humbled one
who is now exalted, his name is above every name and anointed. Called
to be what? An apostle, separated unto the gospel (good
news) of who? God!
Romans
2:16:
In
the day when God shall judge the secrets of men by Jesus Christ
according to my gospel.
In
the day when God shall judge the secrets or hidden things of
men by who? Jesus Christ according to the good news of
the Grace Administration.
Romans
3:22:
Even
the righteousness of God which is by faith [believing] of Jesus
Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there
is no difference.
Even
the righteousness of God which is by believing of who? Jesus
Christ.
Righteousness
is the God-given justification whereby a person stands in the presence
of God without any consciousness of sin, guilt, or shortcomings
(see August 2016 teaching).
We received God's righteousness when we confessed the Lord Jesus
and believed in our hearts that God raised him from the dead (see
Romans 10:9).
As
it is written in Romans 8:33:
Who
shall lay anything to the charge of God's elect? It is God that
justifieth.
Romans
3:23:
For
all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.
In
this verse, all means without exception. And what do all
have? Sinned and come short of the glory of who? God!
Let's
look at Romans 5:17:
For
if by one man's [Adam] offence death reigned by one; much
more they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of
righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ.)
From
whom did they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift
of righteousness shall reign in life? Jesus Christ.
In these verses, it is important to understand the power of the
phrase Jesus Christ and what it means to us, the born-again
believers. Think for a minute, do you proclaim Jesus or Jesus Christ
in your prayers, statements, praises, and actions. Which do you
say? Are you aligned with God's Word on this? Remember, the phrase
or name combination of Jesus Christ means Jesus the humbled
one who is now exalted, and whose name is above every name. The
name Christ means anointed.
Turn
to Romans 5:18-19 for more edification:
Therefore
as by the offence of one [Adam] judgment came upon all [without
exception] men to condemnation [to give judgment against]; even
so by the righteousness of one [Jesus Christ] the free gift came
upon all men unto justification of life.
For
as by one man's [Adam]
disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one
[Jesus Christ] shall many be made righteous.
Romans
5:21:
That
as sin hath reigned unto death, even so might grace reign through
righteousness unto eternal life by Jesus Christ our Lord
[master].
From
whom does grace reigns through righteousness unto eternal life?
Jesus Christ our Lord [master]. See December
2018 teaching on Masters of God's Word.
Romans
6:11:
Likewise
reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive
unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord [master].
We
are alive unto who? God! Through whom? Jesus Christ
our Lord and master.
Turn to Romans 6:23 to see the power we have been given through
Jesus Christ:
For
the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life
through Jesus Christ our Lord [master].
Who
do we receive the gift of God, eternal life, through? Jesus
Christ our Lord and master. See January
2024 teaching on the name Jesus. It is through the gift of
God, which is eternal life through Jesus Christ our
Lord and master, that the wages of sin have been dealt with.
Turn
to Romans 15:8:
Now
I say that Jesus Christ was a minister of the circumcision
for the truth of God, to confirm the promises made unto the fathers.
Jesus
Christ was a minister of who? The circumcision [Israel]
for the truth of who? God, to confirm the promises made
unto the fathers [Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob] (see Exodus 3:16).
Jesus Christ came to fulfill the Old Testament. He did not
come for the church of the body which you and are a part of! While
it may seem confusing, the gift from God is through Jesus Christ,
not Jesus. It is in Christ that we are seated together in
heavenly places (see February
2024 teaching and Colossians 1:27). The Bible did not randomly
use these names or phrases haphazardly. There is a reason some places
say Jesus, others state in Christ, others state Jesus Christ, and
still others state Christ Jesus. Each phrase has a different emphasis.
Turn
to Romans 15:16-17:
That
I [Paul] should be the minister of Jesus Christ
to the Gentiles, ministering the gospel of God, that the offering
up of the Gentiles might be acceptable, being sanctified [set
apart] by the Holy Ghost.
I
have therefore whereof I may glory through Jesus Christ
in those things which pertain to God.
Paul
said I may glory through who? Jesus Christ in those
things which pertain to who? God! Paul was very clear
in how he phrased this. He knew that it was through Jesus Christ
that he ministers the gospel of who? God!
Romans
16:25:
Now
to him (God) that is of power to stablish you according to my
[Paul's] gospel [good news of the Grace administration],
and the preaching of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation
of the mystery, which was kept secret since the world began.
Whose
preaching? Jesus Christ! And what was the word of knowledge
and word of wisdom according to the revelation? It was the
mystery, which was kept secret since the world began (see 1
Corinthians 12:8).
Jesus
Christ came to fulfill the Old Testament. He never came to
start the church of the body which you and I belong. Ephesians
3:6 tells us:
That
the Gentiles should be fellowheirs, and of the same body, and
partakers of his [God's]
promise in Christ by the gospel.
This
verse tells us that the Gentiles and Judeans are fellow heirs and
of the same body and partakers of God's promise in Christ by the
Gospel of the Grace administration. (See February
2024 teaching). Jesus Christ did not know about God's
promise documented in Ephesians 3:6. When I understood that Jesus
Christ did not come to start the church of the body which you
and I belong to, the Word of God opened to me, and it burned within
my heart. The Word of God fits together for me when I understand
the distinction between Jesus, Jesus Christ, and Christ. This verse
tells me that God's promise came in Christ, not Jesus Christ. Once
again, the phrasing is critical as you read and put in your heart
the Word in the Bible.
The
word "mystery" is the Greek word musterion, which
was according to Romans 16:25:
Now
to him that is of power to stablish you according to my gospel,
and the preaching of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation
of the mystery, which was kept secret since the world began.
Ephesians
3:5 tells us this musterion or mystery:
Which
in other ages was not made known unto the sons of men, as it is
now revealed unto his holy apostles and prophets by the Spirit.
Ephesians
3:9 tells us more:
And
to make all men see what is the fellowship of the mystery, which
from the beginning of the world hath been hid in God, who created
all things by Jesus Christ.
Colossians
1:26 clarifies:
Even
the mystery which hath been hid from ages and from generations,
but now is made manifest to his saints.
Not
a single word was written or heard about this mystery until God
revealed it in detail to the Apostle Paul (see January
2019, February 2019,
and March 2019 teachings).
Paul received knowledge of the Great Mystery by the revelation manifestation
(word of knowledge, word of wisdom, and discerning of spirit) See
1 Corinthians 12:7-11.
This
is the accuracy and integrity of God's Word regarding the phrase
Jesus Christ in the book of Romans. God has given us power
against the adversary by adhering to the accuracy and integrity
of His Word. It is written in Luke 1:38:
Be
it unto me according to thy word.
In
this month's teaching, we searched the scriptures for some of the
usages of the combination of the Greek words Iesous and Christos
used together representing our English phrase Jesus Christ
in Romans. Based on this teaching, we learned:
- Paul
was a servant [slave] of Jesus Christ (Romans
1:1).
- God
shall judge the secrets of men by Jesus Christ (Romans
2:16).
- Even
the righteousness of God which is by faith [believing] of
Jesus Christ (Romans 3:22).
- Much
more they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of
righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ
(Romans 5:17).
- Even
so might grace reign through righteousness unto eternal life by
Jesus Christ our Lord
[master] (Romans 5:21).
- But
alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord
[master] (Romans 6:11).
- But
the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our
Lord
[master] (Romans 6:23).
- Now
I say that Jesus Christ was a minister of the circumcision
[Israel] for the truth of God (Romans 15:8).
- That
I [Paul] should be the minister of Jesus Christ
to the Gentiles, ministering the gospel of God (Romans 15:16).
- I
[Paul] may glory through Jesus Christ in those things
which pertain to God (Romans 15:17).
- And
the preaching of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation
of the mystery, which was kept secret since the world began
(Romans 16:25).
Father,
thank you for your Word that makes known what we have received and
what we can do in the name of Jesus Christ. We know we are
alive unto you Father, through Jesus Christ, our master.
We know that we have your gift of eternal life through Jesus
Christ, our master, and your only begotten son. The grace of
our Lord Jesus Christ be with us all. Amen.
We
thank God, our Father, for the resurrection of His son, the Lord
Jesus Christ. We thank God for the excellency of the knowledge
of Christ Jesus our Lord and master. We pray that God our Father
open His Word and give us and understanding of His Word so that
we may know Christ Jesus our Lord and master, and the power of his
resurrection!
Bless
your hearts. We love you all. The Word of God is the Will of God.
And the Will of God is the Word of God.
In
the Lord,
