MOR-Bible,
which is in God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ, peace to you
and grace from God our Father, and the Lord Jesus Christ. Father,
we thank you for giving us an understanding of the truth of your
Word and how to utilize it by taking believing action on your Word.
Father, thank you for confirming your rightly divided Word with
signs, miracle, and wonders. In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ,
Amen.
In the May 2022 teaching,
we searched and tracked some usages of the Greek Word aleethia
translated into our English word "truth." We read the
first and last usages of aleethia and then reviewed some usages
from the gospel (i.e., Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John). From our
tracking and tracing in the scriptures the Greek word aleethia,
we saw that God doubled established that His Word is the truth!
In the first usage of the Greek word aleethia, we read where
Jesus Christ taught the truth of God's Word regardless of who the
person was! The last usage of the Greek word aleethia focused
on our heart's desire. Here there were three ways aleethia
was used: 1. We have a good witness of the truth of God's Word and
of all the brethren! 2. The brethren in the body of Christ are witnesses
who walk in the truth of God's Word! and 3. We rejoice greatly when
we see a brother or sister walking in the truth of God's Word!
In this month's teaching, we will continue to review usages of the
Greek word aleethia used for our English word truth from
the Church Epistles (i.e., Romans, Corinthians, Galatians, Ephesians,
Philippians, Colossians, and Thessalonians) which are addressed
to the current Grace Administration of Paul's teaching and speaking
the truth of God's Word. The sources for all Greek-English words
are The Critical Lexicon and Concordance to the English and Greek
New Testament Bullinger (1975) and Young's Analytical Concordance
to the Bible (1982).
As a reminder, Romans is a doctrine Epistle where we learn the basic
truths, principles, and standards of how to truly believe. See March
2019 teaching. As we review the usages of aleethia, I
exhort you to read the context of these verse to increase your believing
and understanding. The word truth will be bolded in the Bible verses
for emphasis.
Let's start with Romans 9:1:
I
say the truth [the Greek word aleethia] in
Christ, I lie not, my conscience also bearing me witness in the
Holy Ghost [holy spirit].
Paul
said, I say the truth, the word of God in Christ. Remember
that Christ is the now glorified one who sits at the right hand
of God our Father. Paul continued on and said, I lie not, my
conscience also bearing me witness with the gift of holy spirit.
Paul operated all nine manifestations of the gift of holy spirit
(1 Corinthians 12: 7-11). See June
2016 teaching.
Corinthians is a reproof Epistle which corrected the practical errors
for not following the truth of God's Word documented in Romans.
Let's look at 1 Corinthians 13:6:
Rejoiceth
not in iniquity [unrighteousness, wrong, injustice], but
rejoiceth in the truth [the Greek word aleethia].
This
verse tells us to rejoice in the truth of God's Word!
Next, we will look at 2 Corinthians 4:1. However, because the word
"therefore" is used in 2 Corinthians 4:1, we must read
the verse before for context. Let's read 2 Corinthians 3:18:
But
we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the
Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even
as by the Spirit of the Lord.
2
Corinthians 4:1-2:
Therefore,
seeing we have this ministry, as we have received mercy, we faint
not.
But have renounced the hidden things of dishonesty, not walking
in craftiness, nor handling the word of God deceitfully; but by
manifestation of the truth [the Greek word aleethia]
commending ourselves to every man's conscience in the sight
of God.
The
word "manifestation" is the Greek word phanerosis which
means a "making known, manifesting." We make known the
truth of God's Word to everyone in the sight of God our Father!
2 Corinthians
11:10:
As
the truth [the Greek word aleethia] of Christ
is in me, no man shall stop me of this boasting in the regions
of Achaia.
Paul
said, as the truth, of Christ is in me. How did he know?
By the truth of God's Word written in Colossians 1:27.
To
whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this
mystery [see Ephesians 3:6] among the Gentiles, which is
Christ in you, the hope of glory.
2 Corinthians
13:8:
For
we can do nothing against the truth [the Greek word
aleethia], but for the truth [the Greek word
aleethia].
What
can we do against the truth of God's Word? Nothing! Not one thing!
The truth of the Word of God can stand any investigation because
God's Word is the truth! The more you examine God's Word, the clearer
the exact truth of God's Word reveals itself! This is the reason
why I would rather obey God's Word than people's words! God's Word
will not lie to us or disappoint us! It is the Word of life (Philippians
2:16)!
Galatians is a corrections Epistle which corrected practical errors.
These practical errors eventually turn into doctrines which results
in people not following the truth of God's Word as documented in
Romans. Galatians 2:5, 14:
To
whom we gave place by subjection, no, not for an hour; that the
truth [the Greek word aleethia] of the gospel
[the good news of the Grace Administration] might continue
with you.
Verse
14:
But
when I [Paul] saw that they [Peter, Barnabas, and others]
walked not uprightly according to the truth [the
Greek word aleethia] of the gospel [the good news
of the Grace Administration], I said unto Peter before them
all, if thou, being a Jew [Judean], livest after the manner
of Gentiles, and not as do the Jews [Judeans], why compellest
thou the Gentiles to live as do the Jews [Judeans]?
Paul
confronted Peter, Barnabas, and others for not walking uprightly
according to the truth of God's Word as documented in the Grace
Administration. Remember, the Grace Administration started on the
day of Pentecost (Acts 2:4). Peter, Barnabas, and others were teaching
the Old Testament Law of Circumcision. Paul corrected them by the
truth of God's Word for the current Grace Administration!
Galatians
5:6-7:
For
in Jesus Christ neither circumcision availeth anything, nor uncircumcision;
but faith [believing] which worketh by love [of God in
the renewed mind in manifestation].
Ye
did run well; who did hinder [or restrain] you that ye
should not obey the truth [the Greek word aleethia]?
Here
we learn when we stop obeying the truth of God's Word, someone always
hinders or restrains us by false teaching!
The next usages of aleethia are documented in Ephesians which
is also a doctrine Epistle. Ephesians tells us the truth about what
God has already done for us in Christ and what we have in Christ.
See March 2019 teaching.
Once again, I exhort you to read the context of these usages to
increase your believing and understanding.
Ephesians 1:13:
In
whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth
[the Greek word aleethia], the gospel of your salvation:
in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that
holy Spirit of promise.
Ephesians
4:21:
If
so, be that ye have heard him, and have been taught by him, as
the truth [the Greek word aleethia] is in
Jesus.
The
truth is in who? Jesus, the humble one that was obedient to death!
Ephesians
4:24-25:
And
that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness
and true [the Greek word aleethia] holiness.
Wherefore
putting away lying, speak every man truth [the Greek
word aleethia] with his neighbour: for we are members
one of another.
Why
should we stop lying and speak the truth of God's Word with one
another in the body of Christ? For we are members one of another!
Ephesians
5:8-9:
For
ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord:
walk as children of light.
We
walk as children of what? Light!
(For
the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and
truth [the Greek word aleethia]).
Ephesians
6:14:
Stand
therefore, having your loins girt about with truth
[the Greek word aleethia], and having on the breastplate
of righteousness.
We,
the born-again believers, stand fast and still having our loins
girt with the truth of God's Word which is the "breastplate
of righteousness."
Philippians
is a reproof Epistle which corrected the practical errors for not
following the truth of God's Word as documented in Ephesians. Philippians
1:18:
What
then? notwithstanding, every way, whether in pretence, or in truth
[the Greek word aleethia], Christ [the head of the
body] is preached [thoroughly]; and I therein do rejoice,
yea, and will rejoice.
We
rejoice when Christ, the head of the body, is preached thoroughly!
Colossians is a corrections Epistle that corrected practical errors
which turn into doctrines for not following the truth of God's Word
as documented in Ephesians.
Colossians 1:5-6:
For
the hope, which is laid up for you in heaven, whereof ye heard
before in the word of the truth [the Greek word aleethia]
of the gospel [of the Grace Administration].
How
do we know about the hope which is laid up for us in heaven? By
the truth of the Word of God as documented in Thessalonians! See
December 2019 teaching.
Which
is come unto you, as it is in all the world; and bringeth forth
fruit, as it doth also in you, since the day ye heard of it, and
knew the grace of God in truth [the Greek word aleethia].
The
next usages we will read are documented in Thessalonians which is
also a doctrine Epistle. Thessalonians tells us the truth about
the return of Christ and our gathering together with him. See April
2020 teaching. 2 Thessalonians 2:10:
And
with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish;
because they received not the love of the truth [the
Greek word aleethia], that they might be saved.
Some
people will perish because they refuse to receive the love of the
truth of God's Word that they might be saved. If they refuse to
receive it, they will perish. This is the Will of God! 1 Timothy
2:4 instructs us:
Who
[God] will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the
knowledge of the truth?
2 Peter
3:9 tells us:
The
Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness;
but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish,
but that all should come to repentance [change of mind].
Remember
that Romans 10:9 says:
That
if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt
believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead,
thou shalt be saved.
It
is an individual's choice to perish or be saved!
2 Thessalonians 2:12-13 has the next usage of aleethia:
That
they [coming after the working of Satan] all might be damned
who believed not the truth [the Greek word aleethia]
but had pleasure in unrighteousness.
But
[in contrast] we are bound to give thanks alway to God for
you, brethren beloved of the Lord, because God hath from the beginning
chosen you to salvation through sanctification of the Spirit and
belief of the truth [the Greek word aleethia].
From
the beginning or origin, God had chosen you and I in Him before
the foundation of the world. It is God's desire that we should be
holy and without blame before Him in love (Ephesians 1:4). In this
verse, the word "salvation" is the Greek word soteeria
which means safety, preservation from danger or destruction. The
word "sanctification" means set apart. The words "of
the spirit" refers to the new birth. We are set apart by the
gift of holy spirit that is in us! And the word "belief"
in 2 Thessalonians 2:13 is the Greek word pistis for believing
of the truth of God's Word! We believe the truth of God's Word as
documented in Romans 10:9 which is how we were saved and set apart
by the Spirit of God that dwell in us!
In
this month's teaching, we reviewed usages of the Greek word aleethia
used for our English word truth from the Church Epistles (i.e.,
Romans, Corinthians, Galatians, Ephesians, Philippians, Colossians,
and Thessalonians). In these Epistles, Paul taught and spoke the
truth of God's Word. 1 Timothy 2:4:
Who
[God] will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge
of the truth [the Greek word aleethia]?
God,
who will have all people to be saved "to make sound, to
save; to preserve safe from danger, loss or destruction"
by His son Jesus (Romans 10:9). We are to come to a clear and exact
knowledge which has a powerful influence on the knower. We are to
have full knowledge of the truth of God's Word. When we put together
what we have read over the last several months, our understanding
of 1 Timothy 2:4, it is my hope that our hearts burn within us as
we traced and tracked in God's Word the Greek words for saved,
knowledge, and truth as documented in 1 Timothy 2:4.
When we decide that God's Word is the truth, our eyes are opened
by the truth of God's Word! I rejoiced at God's Word as one that
finds great fortune!
1 Timothy 2:7:
Whereunto
I [Paul] am ordained a preacher, and an apostle, (I speak
the truth [the Greek word aleethia] in Christ and
lie not;) a teacher of the Gentiles in faith and verity
[the Greek word aleethia].
When
we, as ambassadors for Christ (2 Corinthians 5:20), speak the truth
of God's Word in Christ, the now glorified one, we lie not! We teach
God's Word believing it is the truth!
Father, I am so thankful for the truth of your Word which absolutely
will not lie to us or disappoint us. Father, I so thankful for my
brothers and sisters who trusted in you after we heard the Word
of truth, the gospel of your salvation, in whom also after that
we believed, we were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise. Father,
thank you for the witness of the truth of your Word by your children
believing to operate all nine manifestations of your gift of holy
spirit. In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, Amen
Bless your hearts, you are the best and we love you.
In next month's teaching, we will start our review of 2 Timothy
2:15.
In
the Lord,
