MOR-Bible,
which is in God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. Grace be unto
you, and peace, from God our Father, and the Lord Jesus Christ.
We give thanks to God and the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, praying
always for you. We thank God our Father always without ceasing,
because, when you received the Word of God which you heard of us,
you received it not as the word of men, but as it is in truth, the
Word of God, which effectually works also in you that believe (1
Thessalonians 2:13).
Almighty God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, and our Father
in whom every heart is known. To the born-again believers and faithful
brothers and sisters in Christ, we give thanks to God and the Father
of our Lord Jesus Christ, praying always for you. For the hope,
which is laid up for you in heaven, whereof you heard before in
the Word of the truth of the gospel. For this cause, we also, since
the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you and to desire
that you might be filled with the knowledge of God our Father's
will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding that you might walk
worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good
work, and increasing in the knowledge of God our Father. Strengthened
with all might, according to His glorious power, to all patience
and longsuffering with joyfulness. Giving thanks to the Father,
which has made us adequate to be partakers of the inheritance of
the saints in light. Thanks be to God our Father, who has delivered
us, His sons and daughters, from the power of darkness, and has
translated us into His kingdom by the works of his dear Son (Colossians
1:3-13). In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ (Ephesians 5:20).
Amen.
In last
month's teaching, we searched the scriptures for some examples
of the Greek word theos for our English word "God."
We were blessed by reading the first and last usages of the scriptures
for the Greek word theos documented in the Gospels, Church
Epistles, and Revelation. It was great joy and rejoicing for me
to read God's Word concerning theos - the God, the one supreme
with whom is the fountain of life and light. God our Father is all
powerful. He is first. He is the one above all. He is Elohim, the
Creator. He is Jehovah representing His connection to what He created.
And He is El Shaddai, Almighty God!
Once again Ephesians 4:3-6:
Endeavoring
to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.
There
is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope
of your calling;
One
Lord, one faith, one baptism,
One
God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and
in you all. [Bold identifies the unity of the spirit we
are reviewing]
With
all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one another
in love, we keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace! We
must, as sons and daughters of God our Father, walk with lowliness,
humility, modesty, and demeanor. We must walk with meekness, gentleness,
tenderness, and enduring all things with an even temper. We must
walk with longsuffering, patience, endurance, and forbearance. We
must walk, upright. We must hold up, hold out, endure and bear with
one another in unity. And the only way we can do this is with the
love of God in the renewed mind in manifestation! (see August
2020 teaching)
In this month's teaching we will continue with our Word-based study
on the final unity of the spirit documented in Ephesians 4:6 - "
Father of all." In doing so we will:
- Define
the word "Father" which is the Latin word Pater.
It is defined as Father, ancestor, spoken of God, creator.
- Discuss
the Greek word ek for our English word "of."
- Discuss
the figure of speech Polysyndeton.
- Discuss
the two ways the word "all" is used in God's Word.
- Discuss
what the number eight (8) represents in God's Word as "Father"
is listed eighth in Ephesians 4:6.
- Review
some usages of the number eight (8) in God's Word.
The
word "Father" is the Latin word pater meaning Father,
ancestor, spoken of God, as creator. (Bullinger. 1975. Critical
Lexicon and Concordance to the English and Greek New Testament).
How can God the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ be our Father? The
answer is documented in God's Word! Romans 10 9-10 tells us:
That
if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt
believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead,
thou shalt be saved.
For
with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the
mouth confession is made unto salvation [wholeness].
When
I confessed with my mouth the Lord Jesus and believed in my heart
that God has raised him from the dead, I was saved, born-again of
God's Spirit! That Spirit of God is incorruptible seed! 1 Peter
1:23 explains:
Now
we are born-again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible,
by the word of God, which lives and abides forever.
Our
spiritual birth is of God's incorruptible seed. His gift of holy
spirit which lives and abides for how long? Forever! When I was
born into this world, I was born of my earthly father's corruptible
seed. When I take my last breath on this earth, it will be the end
of my earthly father's corruptible seed in me. That is my fleshly
birth. Remember John 3:6 says:
That
which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of
the Spirit is spirit.
We
have the opportunity to have two separate seeds! One seed is corruptible
flesh of my earthly father. And the second seed is incorruptible
spirit of my heavenly Father, which lives and abides forever! God's
Word declares now are we sons and daughters of God! 1 John 3:1-3
states:
Behold,
what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we
should be called the sons of God: therefore, the world knoweth
us not, because it knew him not.
Beloved,
now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we
shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be
like him; for we shall see him as he is.
And
every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as
he is pure.
We
know without a shadow of a doubt that now we are sons and daughters
of God. When Christ shall appear, we shall be like him for we shall
see him as he is. And everyone born-again of God's Spirit, that
has this hope in him, purifies himself, even as he is pure in that
spirit of God that is in him! (1 John 3:1-3)
The
word "of" is the Greek word ek which means out
from. We that have confessed Jesus as Lord and believed in our hearts
that God has raised him from the dead are out from God or
born-again of God the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ and our Father's
seed!
There are two ways the word "all" is used in God's Word.
All with distinction and all without distinction. In the phase "who
is above all," the word "all" is without distinction.
For example, God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ and our Father,
is above all without distinction! Colossians 1:16-17 tell us:
For
by him [God] were all [without distinction] things
created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and
invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities,
or powers: all [without distinction] things were created
by him [God], and for him [God].
And
he [God] is before all [without distinction] things,
and by him [God] all [without distinction] things
consist.
The
one true God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ is before all things
without distinction! He is the one supreme with whom is the fountain
of life and light. God is the mighty one, the one above all! God's
Word declares He is Elohim the creator of all things! He is Jehovah
signifying His relationship to what He has created. And He is El
Shaddai, God Almighty! In the book of Revelation, God is referred
to as "Lord God Almighty."
The phrases and through all and in you all are the
figure of speech Polysyndeton. Polysyndeton is a figure of speech
that synchronizes conjunctions words such as "and," "or,"
and "but." The purpose is to link additional words or
sections in a sentence into associations of equal importance. They
are used numerous times in adjacent sequences, predominantly where
concurrences would typically not exist at all. The phrases and
through all and in you all have equal importance in Ephesians
4:6.
One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all,
and in you all. [Bold identifies the use of Polysyndeton.]
The
word "all" in these two phrases means with distinction
among the born-again believers. God is not the God of the unbelievers.
God is through all, and in all of us who have confessed the
Lord Jesus and have believed in our hearts that God has raised Jesus
from the dead. We were saved and born-again of His Spirit (Romans
10:9). We are now sons and daughters of God (1 John 3:2).
In
the Aramaic "in you, all" is "in us all," because
God is Almighty. He is omnipotent. He is through all because
God is ever-present. He fills all. It's God in Christ in you who
are born-again of His Spirit (Colossians 1:27)! He is one God and
Father of Jesus Christ and all believers, who is through all and
in us all in the body of Christ! Bless the Lord in my body,
soul, and spirit! My heart desires to do the Will of my Father!
2 Corinthians 5:19 states:
To
wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself.
God
was where? In Christ! Colossians 1:27 says:
To
whom God would make known [by His Word] what is the riches
of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ
in you, the hope of glory.
Christ
is where? In you! According to God's Word, it's God in Christ in
each born-again believer, because God is almighty. He is through
all because God is ever-present. He fills all. It's God in Christ
in you the hope of glory to those who are born-again of His Spirit!
This is what God's Word declares peoples! We have eternal unity
with God our Father and His son the Lord Jesus Christ! Because of
this eternal unity with God our Father and His son the Lord Jesus
Christ, we are God's workmanship. God has done a perfect work in
Christ Jesus, and a perfect work in that gift of holy spirit we
received when we were born-again! Ephesians 2:10 says:
For
we [the born-again believers] are his [God's] workmanship,
created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before
ordained that we should walk in them.
We
are now the one true God's workmanship created in the now glorified
one who was once humbled Christ Jesus to good works! He's not the
Father of the nonbelievers who have not confessed the Lord Jesus
and don't believe in their hearts that God has raised Jesus from
the dead. Romans 8:8 states:
So,
then they that are in the flesh [body and soul only] cannot
please God.
Why?
1 Corinthians 2:14 explains:
But
the natural man [body and soul only] receiveth not the
things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him:
neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.
The
natural man has no spirit of God the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ!
Now, if any man or woman has not the spirit of God dwelling in him
or her, God is not their Father! Romans 8:9 states:
But
ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the
Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man has not the Spirit
of Christ, he is none of his.
God's
Word says if any man or woman has not the Spirit of Christ, he or
she is none of His! That's what God's Word declares and that's what
it means! Ephesians 1:22-23 tells us:
And
hath put all things under his feet and gave him to be the head
over all things to the church,
which is his body, the fulness of him that filleth all in all.
God
has put all things under Christ's feet and gave him Christ to be
the head over all things to the church, which is his body and the
fulness of God that fills all in all! The will of God is the Word
of God!
The number eight in God's Word signifies the first of a new series.
Under the Law Administration, circumcision was performed on the
eighth day. David was the eighth son of Jesse. The number eight
also deals with resurrection and regeneration. In addition, the
number eight in the Word of God is always a new beginning. Christ
appeared in his resurrected body on the first day of the week which
was the eighth day, a new beginning. There are eight unities of
the spirit listed in Ephesians 4. The number eight is seven plus
one, indicating spiritual perfection, plus unity, which is the oneness
of God! This makes the number eight the super abounding number,
over and above, perfect completeness!
There are nine manifestations of the spirit but the manifestation
of speaking in tongues is listed eighth in 1 Corinthians 12:10.
Speaking in tongues makes one overflow spiritually. It is the only
manifestation that builds us up spiritually! (see June
2016 teaching). Let's look at some examples related to this
eighth manifestation - speaking in tongues.
1 Corinthians 14:4:
He
that speaketh in an unknown tongue edifieth [builds] himself
[spiritually].
2 Corinthians
4:16:
For
which cause we faint not; but though our outward man perish, yet
the inward man is renewed day by day.
Speaking
in tongues is the only way the inward man (the gift of holy spirit)
is renewed day by day! Speaking in tongues is the only way you can
build up that gift of holy spirit that is in you! Remember John
3:6 says:
That
which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of
the Spirit is spirit.
There
are two separated births - one is of the flesh and the other one
is of the spirit. John 4:24 says:
God
is Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit
and in truth.
A way
to think about this is that we eat physical food to sustain our
bodies. But physical food does nothing for the spirit that is in
each born-again believer! The only way we can feed or build up that
gift of holy spirit in us is by speaking in tongues (1 Corinthians
14:4)!
Let's look at some usages in God's Word of the number eight where
we can see the number eight as the first of a new series or resurrection
and regeneration.
Luke 1:59-60:
And
it came to pass, that on the eighth day they came to circumcise
the child [John the Baptist]; and they called him Zacharias, after
the name of his father. And his mother answered and said, not
so; but he shall be called John.
Luke
9:28:
And
it came to pass about an eight days after these sayings, he [Jesus
Christ] took Peter and John and James, and went up into a mountain
to pray.
1 Peter
3:20:
Which
sometime were disobedient, when once the longsuffering of God
waited in the days of Noah, while the ark was a preparing, wherein
few, that is, eight souls were saved by water.
In
this month's teaching, we defined the word "Father" which
is the Latin word Pater which means "Father, ancestor,
spoken of God, creator." We discussed the word "of"
which is the Greek word ek which means out from. Remember,
we that have confessed Jesus as Lord and believed in our hearts
that God has raised him from the dead are out from God or
born-again of God the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ and our Father's
seed!
We discussed the figure of speech Polysyndeton. We discussed there
are two ways the word "all" is used in God's Word. All
with distinction and "all" without distinction. We defined
what the number eight represents in the Word of God and reviewed
usages of the number eight in God's Word.
God's Word unequivocally declares there is one true God and Father
of our Lord Jesus Christ and our Father, who is above all, and through
all born-again believers, and in all born-again believers in the
body of Christ! When I confessed with my mouth the Lord Jesus and
believed in my heart that God raised him from the dead, I was saved
or born-again of God's Spirit! God's Word states that the spirit
in us is incorruptible seed which lives and abides forever! We are
sons and daughters of God!
In Ephesians 4:3-6, as we endeavor to keep the unity of the Spirit
in the bond of peace, these unities of the spirit (one body, one
Spirit, one hope, one Lord, one faith, one baptism, and one God)
encourage the believers to stand, to walk, to serve, to believe,
to love, and to work together as one household! We must, as sons
and daughters of God our Father, walk with lowliness, humility,
modesty and demeanor. We must walk with meekness, gentleness, tenderness
and enduring all things with an even temper. We must walk with longsuffering,
patient, endurance and forbearance. We must walk, upright, we must
hold up, hold out, endure and bear with one another in unity. And
the only way we can do this is with the love of God in the renewed
mind in manifestation! (for more on this see MOR teaching August
2020) The Will of God is the Word of God.
Father, thank you for opening our understanding of your Word concerning
who you are and what you accomplished for us through your only begotten
son the Lord Jesus Christ. Father, thank you that we know from your
Word without any doubt that we are your sons and daughters in your
household. Father, thank you that we know from your Word you are
the one true God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ and our Father,
who is above all, and through all born-again believers, and in all
born-again believers in the body of Christ. Father, you can do exceedingly
abundantly above all that we ask or think according to the power
of your gift of holy spirit that works in us. Now to you, Father,
be the glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages,
world without end. In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, Amen!
The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the
communion of the Holy Spirt, be with you all.
Next month's teaching will be Part 2 from this month, where we will
review some of the scriptures for the Latin word Pater used
for our English word "Father."
