MOR-Bible,
which is in God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ, peace and
grace to you from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. Father,
thank you for loving us so much that you gave your only begotten
son for our sins, that whosoever believeth in him shall not perish,
but have everlasting life. Thank you for calling us to your household.
Father, I am so thankful that we are workers together with you.
Father, thank you for working in us both to will and to act in order
to fulfill his good purpose (Philippians 2:13). In the name of the
Lord, Jesus Christ, Amen.
In the November 2021 teaching,
we reviewed Philippians 4:6 for the following English words/phrases
and their corresponding Greek meanings:
- Be
careful - merimnao
- Nothing
- medeis
- Prayer
- proseuche
- Supplication
- de-eesis
- Thanksgiving
- ukaristia
- Requests
- aiteema
- Let
and be made known - gnorizo
- God
- Theos
By
understanding the Greek words for our English words/phrases, we
open our understanding of God's Word! We increase our believing!
And we are continually comforted and strengthened by God's Word!
In this month's teaching, we will discuss "workers together"
with the one true God. The purpose of a word-based study is to determine
the exact meaning of a word or phrase used in God's Word for that
specific context. We will do a word-based teaching on the Greek
word sunergeo used in the New Testament for our English phrase
"workers together" represented in 2 Corinthians 6:1:
We
then, as workers together [sunergeo] with him [God],
beseech you also that ye receive not the grace of God in vain.
This
verse doesn't state workers together with this world. It doesn't
state workers together with unbelievers. It states workers together
with who? Him, God!
In this month's teaching, we will discuss:
- What
must we do first to work together with the one true God.
- Conduct
a Biblical word study on the Greek word sunergeo for our
English phrase "workers together."
Once
we study God's Word, we will know the exact meaning of "workers
together" with the one true God and increase our believing
and understanding of God's Word.
Corinthians is one of the seven Church Epistles (i.e., Romans, Corinthians,
Galatians, Ephesians, Philippians, Colossians, and Thessalonians).
It is written to the Administration of Grace in which we now live.
It corrects practical errors for not obeying the doctrine represented
in the Epistle of Romans.
What must we do first to work together with the one true God? We
must first gain wisdom and knowledge and understanding of God's
Word which is His Will on how to work together with the one true
God. You cannot work together with the one true God until you are
born-again of His Spirit! As it is written John 3:6:
That
which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of
the Spirit is spirit.
Flesh
and Spirit are in two different births and each one must stay within
its own boundaries. See April
2016 teaching. Flesh by the way of the five senses can communicate
only with the senses or the material realm. Spirit can only communicate
with spirit. 1 Corinthians 2:14: declares:
But
the natural man [born of the flesh] receiveth not the things
of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither
can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.
We
are born of the flesh into this world as a natural man or woman
- with body and soul only. Ephesians 2:12 tells us:
at
that time ye were without Christ, being aliens from the commonwealth
of Israel, and strangers from the covenants of promise, having
no hope, and without God in the world.
Once
we are born-again of God's Spirit, we can then receive the things
of the Spirit of God. Without being born-again, the things of the
Spirit of God "are foolishness unto you: neither can you
know them, because they are spiritually discerned" (2 Corinthians
2:14). See February 2016
teaching. Therefore, you cannot work together with God until
you are born-again of His Spirit! You can only receive the things
of the Spirit of God and work with Him when you are born-again!
Romans 8:8 states:
So,
then they that are in the flesh [body and soul only] cannot please
God.
I
exhort you to read the first nine chapters of Romans. In the tenth
chapter, we are told how to be born-again of God's Spirit in this
present Grace Administration. See March
2016 teaching.
The person of body and soul hears the Word of God taught and believes
what he or she hears and decides to confess by their free will according
to what Romans 10:9: tells us:
That
if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord [master] Jesus,
and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from
the dead, thou shalt be saved.
Once
this confession is made, the one true God, the Father of our Lord
Jesus Christ, creates His spiritual seed in that person of body
and soul. This seed is the gift of holy spirit! This spiritual seed
which is the gift of holy spirit is incorruptible and remains forever!
1 Peter 1:23 instructs:
Being
born-again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by
the word of God, which liveth and abideth forever.
God's
Word says this spiritual seed, the gift of holy spirit, is incorruptible
and lives and abides forever! The word forever means what? Forever!
This spiritual seed, the gift of holy spirit, is eternal unity with
God the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ and our Father! I am born-again
of God's incorruptible seed and nothing I or anyone else can do
will change His seed in me! See September
2021 teaching.
1 John 3:1-3 declares:
Behold,
what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we
should be called the sons of God: therefore, the world knoweth
us not, because it knew him not.
Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear
what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall
be like him; for we shall see him as he is.
And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even
as he is pure.
1 John
5:20:
And
we know that the Son of God is come, and hath given us an understanding,
that we may know him [God our Father] that is true, and
we are in him [God our Father] that is true, even in his
Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God, and eternal life.
Now,
as sons and daughters of God in Him that is the true God and His
son Jesus Christ, we have eternal life! Now, we can be workers together
with the true God the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ and our Father!
Now, you have performed the first requirement to work together with
the one true God. Now, you must Study God's Word to show yourself
approved to God, a workman that needs not to be ashamed, rightly
dividing the Word of truth (2 Timothy 2:15). Because to be workers
together with God our Father, we must know His Word which is His
Will!
Now, we will conduct a Biblical word study on the one Greek word
sunergeo used for our English phrase "workers together"
to determine the precise meaning in the context of God's Word. Turn
to 2 Corinthians 6:1:
We
then, as workers together [the Greek word sunergeo]
with him, beseech you also that ye receive not the grace of God
in vain.
The
English phrase "workers together" is the Greek word sunergeo
which means together in conjunction with. This Greek word is traced
back to the sunergeo which means working together with, with
the same motives and objects, co-operating, fellow helper. The root
Greek word is ergon, which means to work. (Source: Bullinger.
1975. Critical Lexicon and Concordance to the English and Greek
New Testament).
Sunergeo is used five times in God's Word. The number five
in God's Word represents grace or God's unmerited divine favor.
The number 4 (the world number) plus 1 (the number for unity, for
God) equals 5. Grace represents God's power continually helping
man or woman in their worldly powerlessness. The word grace involves
God's unmerited divine favor to the unworthy! God's salvation is
by His grace; it's a gift from God. It is not earned through our
works! Ephesians 2: 8-9 states:
For
by grace are ye saved through faith [the believing of Jesus
Christ]; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
Not of works, lest any man should boast.
The
first usage of the Greek word sunergeo is documented in Mark
16:14-20. The context starts with verse 14:
Afterward,
he [Jesus]
appeared
unto the eleven as they sat at meat and upbraided them with their
unbelief and hardness of heart, because they believed not them
which had seen him after he was risen.
And he said unto them, go ye into all the world, and preach the
gospel to every creature.
He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved, but he that
believeth not shall be damned.
And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall
they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues.
They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing,
it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and
they shall recover.
So then after the Lord had spoken unto them, he was received up
into heaven and sat on the right hand of God.
And they went forth and preached everywhere, the Lord working
with [sunergeo
-
together in conjunction with] them
and confirming the word with signs following. Amen.
The
second usage is documented in Romans 8:26-28. The context starts
with verse 26 and is followed by verses 27-28:
Likewise
the Spirit [the Greek word pneuma meaning spirit] also
helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for
as we ought: but the Spirit [the pneuma] itself
maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.
And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the
Spirit [the pneuma] because he maketh intercession
for the saints according to the will of God.
And we know that all things work together [sunergeo - together
in conjunction with] for good to them that love God, to them
who are the called according to his purpose.
The
third usage is documented in 1 Corinthians 16:13-16. The context
starts with verse 13, followed by verses 14-16:
Watch
ye, stand fast in the faith, quit you like men, be strong.
Let all your things be done with charity [love].
I beseech you, brethren, (ye know the house of Stephanas, that
it is the firstfruits of Achaia, and that they have addicted themselves
to the ministry of the saints,)
That ye submit yourselves unto such, and to everyone that helpeth
[sunergeo - together in conjunction with] with us,
and laboureth.
The
fourth usage is documented in 2 Corinthians 6:1:
We
then, as workers together [sunergeo] with him [God],
beseech you also that ye receive [dechomai - unto you]
not the grace of God in vain.
And
the fifth usage is documented in James 2:17-22. The context starts
with verse 17 and is followed by verses 18-22:
Even
so faith [the Greek word pistis for believing] if
it hath not works, is dead, being alone.
Yea, a man may say, thou hast faith [believing], and I
have works shew me thy faith [believing] without thy works,
and I will shew thee my faith [believing] by my works.
Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils
also believe, and tremble.
But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith [believing]
without works is dead?
Was not Abraham our father justified by works, when he had offered
Isaac his son upon the altar?
Seest thou how faith [believing] wrought with his works
[sunergeo - together in conjunction with], and by
works was faith [believing] made perfect?
As
we go forth preaching Christ, he is with us for it is Christ in
you the hope of glory (Colossians 1:27)! As people believe what
we preached and act on God's Word, He shall confirm His Word with
signs and wonders (Acts 14:3). Then, we will know that all things
work together for good to them that love God, to them who are called
according to His purpose (Romans 8:28). We are addicted to them
that ministry to the saints in the household (1 Corinthians 16:15).
We submit ourselves to everyone that helps us, and labor with us
to preach God's Word in this world!
We then, as workers together with God our Father, plead with you
that you receive not the grace of God in vain (2 Corinthians 6:1)!
By God's grace, you were saved (Ephesians 2:8)! See how you are
believing together in conjunction with works, and by works was your
believing made perfect (James 2:22)!
Based on our Biblical word study on the Greek word sunergeo
(used for our English phrase "workers together"), we,
as born-again believers, are sons and daughters of God who help
with and work together in conjunction with God our Father to get
people saved or born-again of His Spirit. It is our purpose to help
others come to the knowledge of the truth of His Word (1 Timothy
2:4)!
Now, you must keep growing in your knowledge of God's Word by studying
to show yourself approved to God, a workman that needs not to be
ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth (2 Timothy 2:15). You
can then apply what you've learned so that is wisdom applied! You
will have the understanding on that part of God's Word you have
studied, rightly divided, and acted upon!
In this month's teaching, we learned what we must first do to work
together with the one true God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.
We performed a Biblical word study on the Greek word sunergeo
used for our English phrase "workers together." We learned
that we, the born-again believers as sons and daughters of God,
help with and work together in conjunction with God our Father to
get people saved or born-again of His Spirit so that they can come
to the knowledge of the truth of His Word.
This holiday season let us work together with God our Father and
teach someone God's Word. Then, let us show them how to be born-again
of God's Spirit which is incorruptible seed which lives and abides
forever. Let us teach them how to receive into manifestation the
gift of holy spirit. There is no greater gift of love you can give
this holiday season than God's Word! Bless your hearts. We love
you.
Father, thank you for your Word which is your Will for your children.
Father, we are so thankful that we are helpers and workers together
with you. Father, thank you for working in us both to will and to
act for your good pleasure. Father, we thank you for the doors of
utterance you open for us this holiday season to hold forth your
Word of life. In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, Amen.
Glory to God in the highest, and on Earth, peace and good will to
all! Bless your hearts. We love you.
