Father,
thank you for your love for us through your son the Lord Jesus Christ.
Father, thank you for opening our eyes with the light of your Word.
Father, thank you that your children will be strong in believing
your Word and acting upon it. We will give glory unto you, being
completely persuaded that what you have promised, you have performed.
In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, Amen.
The key points from April 2020
teaching. We reviewed 2 Thessalonians 2- verse by verse.
- This
Word of God is addressed to the brethren, the faithful born-again
believers.
- Paul,
and Silas, and Timothy, loving implored the brethren, the born-again
believers, to keep the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ in their
minds and hearts. They taught them about the immense joy of their
future with Christ as they remained faithful.
- We
are told to let no man, or anyone deceive us by any means for
that day the return of Christ upon the earth shall not come, until
after the departure of the born-again believers!
- Paul
said to the Thessalonians believers that they should have a clear
visual picture when the man of sin and the son of perdition (destruction)
will be revealed.
- The
will of God is not for anyone to perish.
- In
numerous other verses in the Church's Epistles, we see that Paul
thanked God always for the brethren, beloved of the Lord, because
God has chosen us to salvation through sanctification of the Spirit
(the new birth) and belief of the truth.
- When
Christ returns, we will be with him in glory!
- Now
who does the world need the most? The Lord Jesus Christ. Especially
if we want everlasting life and good hope through grace!
In
September 2019, we started
these expository teachings on Thessalonians, and are now finishing
these chapters in May 2020. I have learned so much from these teachings.
My heart is overflowing with joy! I can't put into words how I feel
right now! These teaching have inspired me with more love for God
and His son! As my eyes fill with tears of rejoicing, there is just
no joy in life without God's Word in your heart, your walk, and
your talk!
This month's teaching will be on 2 Thessalonians 3. With everything
going on today in this world, these expository teachings on the
Word of God will give us comfort, strength, endurance, and hope!
I pray you feel the same way.
In 2 Thessalonians 3:1, Paul, Silas, and Timothy asked the brethren
to pray for them:
Finally,
brethren, pray for us [Paul, Silas, and Timothy], that
the word [logos] of the Lord [master] may have free
course [this is the Greek word trecho which means to
run], and be glorified [when predicated of Christ it means
that his innate glory is made manifest and brought to light],
even as it is with you.
The
word "brethren" is used 28 times in Thessalonians. The
brethren are the born-again believers who glorified or revered,
honored, and praised the Word of God! The Word of God is the prevailing
word of the Book of Acts (Acts 19:20). It's the operation of all
nine manifestations of the gift of holy spirit.
I ask you to pray for the body of Christ that the prevailing Word
of our Lord Jesus Christ may have a free run and be glorified, revered,
honored, and praised in each of us. Please pray that Christ in you,
the hope of glory, is manifested and brought to light!
In 2 Thessalonians 31, Paul asked the brethren to surround Paul,
Silas, and Timothy with pray so that they may be rescued from perverse,
wicked men who willfully inflict pain. We know from the teachings
throughout Thessalonians that all men did not have the faith of
Jesus Christ!
Let's look at 2 Thessalonians 3:2:
And
that we [Paul, Silas, and Timothy] may be delivered
[rescued] from unreasonable [perverse] and wicked [Greek
word poneeros which means the evil one; the active worker
out of evil; willfully inflicting pain] men: for all men have
not faith [believing or faith of Jesus Christ].
For
the Lord (master) is faithful and will establish you from them who
willfully inflict pain. We are taught that God will guard and protect
us from the active workers of the evil one.
Continue with 2 Thessalonians 3:3:
But
the Lord [master] is faithful, who shall stablish you,
and keep you from evil [the evil one; the active worker out
of evil].
Paul
had confidence in the Lord that the Thessalonian believers would
faithfully practice the Word of God. 2 Thessalonians 3:4:
And
we [Paul, Silas and Timothy] have confidence in the Lord
touching you [the born-again believers], that ye both
do and will do [faithful practice] the things which we
command you.
Paul
said in 1 Corinthians 14:37:
If
any man thinks himself to be a prophet, or spiritual, let him
acknowledge that the things that I write unto you are the commandments
of the Lord.
When
the Lord Jesus Christ directs our hearts and we have the love of
God in the renewed mind in manifestation, we have endurance in waiting
for Christ. 2 Thessalonians 3:5:
And
the Lord direct your hearts into the love of God [we keep
growing in God's Word], and into the patient [endurance]
waiting for Christ.
The
Lord will direct our hearts into the love of God in the renewed
mind in manifestation when we faithfully practice His Word! When
we increase our knowledge of God's Word, and faithfully practice
His word in our day-by-day walk, we have the endurance to get through
each day as we wait for Christ!
In 2 Thessalonians 3:6, Paul commands the brethren, in the name
of the Lord Jesus Christ, to withdraw themselves from every brother
that walks disorderly.
Now
we command you, brethren, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ,
that ye withdraw yourselves from every brother that walketh disorderly
[to leave or break the ranks - spoken of soldiers - out of
one's place, be undisciplined, out of order] and not after
the tradition which he received of [from beside] us.
The
word "Lord" here means master. The name "Jesus"
means the one who humbled himself and became obedient unto death,
even the death of the cross. The name "Christ" becomes
the name of Jesus' changed position, as raised from the dead and
exalted in glory. We are to withdraw ourselves from every born-again
believer who refuses to obey the Word of God!
2 Thessalonians
3:7-10:
For
yourselves know how ye ought to follow us: for we behaved not
ourselves disorderly among you;
Neither did we eat any man's bread for naught; but wrought with
labor and travail night and day, that we might not be chargeable
[burdensome] to any of you:
Not because we have not power [Greek work exousia,
privilege], but to make ourselves an ensample unto you to follow
us.
For even when we were with you, this we commanded [or charge
you] you, that if any would not work, neither should he eat.
The
phrase "if any would not work, neither should he eat"
is a saying or proverb declaring a universal truth that if a person
does not work, he should not eat. It focuses on the need to eat
in order to live, and therefore, the need to work.
2 Thessalonians 3:11:
For
we hear [someone told them] that there are some [certain
ones] which walk among you disorderly working not at all, but
are busybodies.
Paul,
Silas, and Timothy were told by a believer that certain people were
walking disorderly, not working, and being busybodies. The word
"busybodies" is the Greek word periergazomai which
means to take more pains than enough about a thing; hence, to waste
one's labor; to meddle or interfere with other folk's affairs. 1
Thessalonians 4:11-12 tells us:
And
that ye study to be quiet, and to do your own business, and to
work with your own hands, as we commanded you.
That ye may walk honestly toward them that are without, and that
ye may have lack of nothing.
In
2 Thessalonians 3:12, the busybodies are commanded to stop or be
quiet. They are told to work and eat their own bread.
Now
them that are such [busybodies] we command [charge]
and exhort by our Lord Jesus Christ, that with quietness
[peace with the word] they work and eat their own bread.
We,
the brethren, are not to lose heart in well-doing. The god of this
world does everything he can to get us to lose heart in God's Word
and in His household. If a believer refuses to obey the Word of
God, we are to mark him or her and have no company with that person.
2 Thessalonians 3:13-14:
But
ye, brethren [faithful believers], be not weary [lose
heart] in well-doing.
And [then] if any man obeys [submit] not our word
[logos] by this epistle, note [mark] that man [or
sister], and have no company with him [or her], that
he [or she] may be ashamed [for being a busybody].
The
busybodies hurt themselves by not adhering to the Word of God! We
are to avoid them and not get caught up with their disobedience.
2 Thessalonians 3:15:
Yet
count him [or her] not as an enemy but admonish [confront
or warn] him [or her] as a brother [or sister].
When
we first mark and avoid, we are not to count them as an enemy. We
are told to confront them as a brother or sister, in hope that they
will get back on God's Word! 2 Thessalonians 3:16-18:
Now
the Lord of peace himself give you peace [the truths documented
in 1 Thessalonians 1 through 2 Thessalonians 3:16] always by
all means. The Lord be with you all [the faithful brethren].
The salutation of Paul with mine own hand, which is the token
in every epistle: so, I write.
The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen.
While
this is a short chapter, there are several key points.
-
We are to pray for the body of Christ that the prevailing word
of our Lord Jesus Christ may have a free run and be glorified,
revere, honor, and praise in each of us and in our areas. We are
to pray that Christ in you the hope of glory is manifested and
brought to light!
-
Paul asked the brethren to surround them with prayer that they
may be rescued from perverse, wicked people who willfully inflict
pain. Paul reminded them that these people do not have the faith
of Jesus Christ!
- The
Lord is faithful and will guard and protect us from the active
workers of the evil one.
- When
the Lord Jesus Christ directs our hearts and we have the love
of God in the renewed mind in manifestation, we have endurance
in our waiting for Christ.
- We
are to withdraw ourselves from every born-again believer who refuses
to obey the Word of God. We are to confront those not adhering
to God's Word, in the hope that they will get back on God's Word!
- We
all need to eat in order to live, therefore, we all need to work.
- We
are to do our own business and not lose heart in well-doing.
Father,
I thank you for your Word having a free run in our lives and that
your Word will be glorified in us as we revere, honor, and praise
you in our day-to-day walk. We praise you with our whole heart.
We sing praises unto you. We will worship you in spirit and in truth,
for your lovingkindness and for the truth of your Word. You have
magnified your Word above all your name. Father, your Word is quick,
and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even
to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and
marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, and our
Father, who has blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly
places in Christ. Father, you have chosen us in you before the foundation
of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before you
in love. Now, may our Father, the God of hope, fill you with all
joy and peace in believing that you may abound in hope, through
the power of the holy spirit. In the name of the Lord Christ Jesus,
Amen.

month's teaching will be on Spiritual Growth.
