Prayer:
Father thank you for giving to us the spirit of wisdom and revelation
in the knowledge of you. Thank you for opening our spiritual eyes
and ears to your word. Thank you for your love which is shed abroad
in our hearts by the Holy Spirit which is given to us. In the name
of our Lord Jesus Christ, Amen. (from Ephesians 5:20)
In the January
2018 article, we summarized each of the 2017 teachings and set
the theme for 2018 as Love. The Word of God is the Will of God.
There are three Greek words for love. The first one is Philia
which means natural or human love (the equivalent verb is phileo).
The second translation of love is Agape or divine love, the
love of God (the equivalent verb is agapao). The third Greek word
for love is Eros or animal love or sexual attraction. When
the word Love is used in the Bible, it is important to go back to
the original Greek text to understand which form of the word and
its meaning is being used.
I want to share with you, the born-again believers, God's Word on
the second Greek word for love, Agape and the verb form agapao.
So, little is taught about how we are to love or demonstrate Agape
or godly love. God, our Father, demonstrated this Agape love in
the gospel of John. Let's look at John 3:16:
For
God so loved [agapao] the world, that he gave his only
begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish,
but have everlasting life.
Agape
love involves action. In John 3:16, God "gave his only begotten
Son." God didn't just say He loved the world; God acted,
He gave.
The verb "Agapao" accurately means that God's love becomes
yours when you take action and are born-again of God's Spirit (Romans
10:9), because God is love (1 John 4:8). The new birth or being
born-again imparts this love of God in your spirit. Therefore, we
become children of love. It's on the inside. Romans 5:5 says:
And
hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad
in our hearts by the Holy Ghost [Spirit] which is given
unto us.
The
love of God has been abundantly poured out into our hearts by the
Holy Spirit given to us when we were born-again of God's Spirit.
So, you see, the love of God has flooded us within, it's in our
spirit, it's on the inside. When Christ came, he brought it with
him. It is Christ in you the hope of glory (Colossians 1:27)!
To manifest this spiritual love of God in the sense's world, we
must believe in our minds what we have received spiritually. We
must develop our believing and manifest it by believing God's Word
and acting on it.
We
have become so accustomed to receiving information by our five senses.
Now how do we receive spiritual knowledge? We do it by studying
the Word of God, operating the manifestations of the spirit, and
renewing our minds to say, "It is written" and "Thus
said the Lord." We are not to conform to this world. Romans
12:2 tells us:
And
be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing
of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable,
and perfect, will of God.
The
renewing of our minds transforms our lives. So that we may prove
what is the good, acceptable, and perfect will of God. The only
way you can do this is to be born-again of God's Spirit. How do
we renew our minds? One definition of the renewed mind is to hold
the Word of God in your mind and act accordingly. We must renew
our minds to put God's Word in our mind, people. We must walk by
the Word of God. What you believe in is what you say and do. Your
mind directs your talk, walk and your actions! (See October
2016 article.) Joshua 1:8 states:
This
book of the law [the Word of God] shall not depart out
of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that
thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein:
for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt
have good success.
Do
you want to have prosperity? Do you want to have good success? Then
study God's Word, meditate (keep God's Word in your mind) and do
God's Word day and night. Now you see why we need to study the Word
of God! We cannot do God's Will without having knowledge of His
Word. II
Timothy 2:15 says:
Study
to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not
to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
Approved
to whom? God! We are to "rightly dividing the word of truth"
which is the Word of God and His Will. When God's Word tells us
to put on or put off something in our minds, it must be something
we must do in our minds by our own free will. Your will determines
how far you will go with God! So, the first thing we must do is
study God's Word. We are to put it in our minds and walk in God's
love.
"Agapao love" is defined as the love of God in the renewed
mind in manifestation. We must believe God's Word and disciple ourselves
to walk in the love of God in the renewed mind in manifestation
once we are born-again of God's Spirit. This is an hour-by-hour,
day-by-day, week-by-week, month-by-month walk of love. God has given
us a new kind of love, it's a spiritual love.
Once again "Agapao love" is defined as the love of God
in the renewed mind in manifestation. Let's read a tremendous example
of the love of God in the renewed mind in manifestation in God's
Word in 1 Corinthians 13. As background, this chapter is addressed:
Unto
the church of God which is at Corinth, to them that are sanctified
[set apart by God's Spirit in you] in Christ Jesus, called
to be saints [born-again believers], with all that in every
place call upon the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, both their's
and our's (1 Corinthians 1:2).
Are
you sanctified in Christ Jesus? Are you born-again of God's Spirit?
Do you have the spirit of Christ? Do you call upon the name of Jesus
Christ our Lord? Then 1 Corinthians 13 is addressed to you. The
Greek word "Agapao" for love is translated in the King
James Bible as "charity," as well as love. However, the
key is that "Agapao" is action.
Let
us just read this extraordinarily chapter on the Greek word for
love or "Agapao" in 1 Corinthians 13:1-13.
Verse
1:
Though
I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity
[the love of God in the renewed mind in manifestation],
I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal.
There
is nothing wrong with speaking in tongues. But without love, I am
as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal.
Verse
2:
And
though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries,
and all knowledge; and though I have all faith (believing), so
that I could remove mountains, and have not charity [the love
of God in the renewed mind in manifestation], I am nothing.
What
am I without the love of God in the renewed mind in manifestation?
Nothing. All the achievements in my life are nothing without love
or "Agapao."
Verse
3:
And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though
I give my body to be burned, and have not charity [the love
of God in the renewed mind in manifestation], it profiteth
me nothing.
It
profited me how much? Nothing. All the good works I have done in
my life profited me nothing without love.
As we continue in 1 Corinthians 13, we will see two characteristics
of the love of God in the renewed mind in manifestation.
Verse
4:
Charity [the love of God in the renewed mind in manifestation]
suffereth long, and is kind.
"Agapeo"
suffers love and is kind.
Next,
we will see what the love of God in the renewed mind in manifestation
is not:
Verse
5:
Doth
not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily
provoked, thinketh no evil.
The
love of God in the renewed mind in manifestation does NOT behave
itself rude. It does NOT seek itself. It does NOT get easily provoked
or thinks evil.
Verse
6:
Rejoiceth
not in iniquity.
We
don't celebrate injustice or crime or wickedness. This is NOT love.
Let's continue in 1 Corinthians 13 to learn more about the characteristics
of the love of God in the renewed mind in manifestation.
Latter
part of verse 6:
but
rejoiceth in the truth;
We
celebrate the truth of God's Word. Instead of rejoicing in injustice,
we focus on the truths presented in God's Word.
Verse
7:
Beareth
all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth
all things.
The
love of God in the renewed mind in manifestation bears, believes,
hopes, and endures all things according to God's Word. That's why
the love of God in the renewed mind in manifestation never fails.
Verse
8:
Charity
[the love of God in the renewed mind in manifestation] never
faileth: but whether there be prophecies, they shall fail; whether
there be tongues, they shall cease; whether there be knowledge,
it shall vanish away.
The
love of God in the renewed mind in manifestation never fails. God's
Word says God's love never fails! It will never cease or vanish
away!
Verses
9-13:
For
we know in part, and we prophesy in part.
But when that which is perfect [Jesus Christ] is come, then that
which is in part shall be done away.
When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child,
I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish
things.
For now, we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face:
now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.
And now abideth faith [believing], hope, charity [the
love of God in the renewed mind in manifestation], these three;
but the greatest of these is charity [the love of God in the
renewed mind in manifestation].
What
is the greatest thing in the world today? The love of God in the
renewed mind in manifestation. The love of God in the renewed mind
in manifestation activates your believing and anticipates hope.
Many people are born-again of God's Spirit. They have the love of
God in them, but you never see it manifested in them. Why? Because
they have not renewed their minds to God's Word. When we walk in
the love of God in the renewed mind in manifestation, self-interest
is completely eradicated.
Folks, this is an hour-by-hour, day-by-day, week-by-week, month-by-month
walk of love. We must disciple ourselves to walk in the love of
God in the renewed mind in manifestation.
All born-again believers of God's Spirit who have renewed their
minds on what we have in Christ Jesus and manifested this love of
God become new men and women walking in God's love in the senses'
world! There is just no one we could not love because we have Agapao.
The love of God in the renewed mind in manifestation makes us a
success in this life. The love of God in the renewed mind in manifestation
makes us victorious. The love of God in the renewed mind in manifestation
leads us to the very strength and ability of Christ! There is no
force on earth that can defeat the love of God in the renewed mind
in manifestation.
In summary we learned that the love of God in the renewed mind in
manifestation does not:
- Behave
itself unseemly,
- Seeks
not self-interest,
- Is
not easily provoked,
- Thinks
no evil,
- Does
not rejoice in iniquity.
The
love of God in the renewed mind in manifestation does:
- Suffers
long,
- Is
kind,
- Rejoices
in the truth,
- Bears
all things,
- Believes
all things,
- Hopes
all things, and
- Endures
all things.
The
love of God in the renew mind in manifestation never fails. We keep
our heart, soul, strength, and mind in God's Word. We speak God's
Word in love. We meditate and manifest God's love day and night.
By doing this, we shall make our way prosperous, and we shall have
good success in this life.
Father,
I thank you abundantly for filling our hearts with your love nature
when we confess Jesus as Lord and believe in our hearts that you
raised Jesus from the dead (Romans 10:9). You gave us your gift
of holy spirit. I thank you that we can be strong in the love of
God in the renewed mind in manifestation. Your Word tells us the
love of God in the renewed mind in manifestation shall never fail
us! Father thank you, that we can increase and abound in love one
toward another, and toward all men, even as we do toward you (1
Thessalonians 3:12) In the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, Amen.
(see Ephesians 5:20).
Next's
month teaching subject will continue to explore "Agapao
love" which is defined as the love of God in the renewed mind
in manifestation.
