Almighty
God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ and our Father, thank you
for your grace and love. Father, thank you for blessing us with
all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ. Father, thank
you for choosing us in you before the foundation of the world, that
we should be holy and without blame before you in love. In the name
of our Lord Jesus Christ, Amen.
The November
2018 teaching focused on scriptures in God's Word for giving
thanks to God. We renew our minds to have an attitude of thankfulness
for what God our Father has done for us through Christ Jesus. We
read how Jesus Christ, our greatest example of God's love, gave
thanks to God his Father. We saw Jesus Christ had an attitude of
thankfulness for what God his Father did for him. We also read scriptures
in God's Word on giving thanks to God for the believers. I give
thanks to God our Father for your work of believing, labor of love,
and patience of hope in our Lord Jesus Christ, in the sight of God
and our Father, knowing brothers and sisters your beloved election
of God. I am so thankful to God for you caring out your Ministry
of Reconciliation by reading and sharing God's Word of Reconciliation
with others.
This month's teaching subject is the love (agapao) of God
in the renewed mind, Masters of God's Word. It is God's Will
that we become Masters of His Word as a demonstration of our love
for God our Father. If we love God our Father, we will keep His
Word! From reading 2 Timothy 2:15, we know we can't keep God's Word
if we don't become Masters of God's Word:
Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needed
not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
2 Corinthians
3:18 tells us how important it is for us to go to God's Word, study
it and rightly divided it:
But
we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the
Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even
as by the Spirit of the Lord.
So,
what you look at and read you become! The things you put in your
mind are the images you will be! To become Masters of God's Word,
we must put God's Word in our hearts, the inner most part of our
existence. We must see ourselves as Masters. Proverbs 4:23 tells
us:
Keep
thy heart [the inner most part of our being] with all diligence;
for out of it are the issues of life.
And
we are reminded in Romans 10:10:
For
with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the
mouth confession is made unto salvation.
We
must study God's Word and become the image of His Word. We must
renew our minds to say what God's Word says. This is what being
a Master of God's Word is all about. When people see us, they see
Christ! When people see the love, we have for God and our brothers
and sisters in Christ, they know we are Christ's disciples indeed!
When we Master God's Word, we will become a living epistle!
My beloved brothers and sisters in Christ, don't go by what men
or women say about God's Word. Study it, master it and make it your
own! God gave us His Word, so we can know His Will for us! Each
one of us is responsible to know and Master God's Word!
One of the many great prayers in the Word of God is documented in
the book of Ephesians 1:17-18:
That
the God of our Lord Jesus Christ [marks his authority and
power given to him by his Father], the Father of glory, may
give unto you [the born-again believers] the spirit of
wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him.
The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may
know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the
glory of his inheritance in the saints.
These
verses tell us how to act and speak when we are Masters of God's
Word. Our eyes are enlightened or flooded with light that we may
know the hope of His calling. God's Word says we are to know! Not
guess or wonder about the hope of His calling. We are to know. All
that is written in His Word is for us to know!
God our Father has given us, the born-again believers, an inheritance.
But if we don't know that, how can we claim it? We must become Masters
of God's Word. Romans 8: 16-17 tells us:
The
Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the
children of God:
And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with
Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also
glorified together.
To
become Masters of God's Word, we must act and speak as joint heirs
with Christ! God loves us so much that He made us joint inheritors
with Christ! What a great big wonderful God and Father we have!
It is our duty and obligation to become Masters of His Word by rightly
dividing His Word, believing it in our minds, and carrying it out
in our daily lives. Ephesians 1:19:
And
what is the exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who believe,
according to the working of his mighty power.
Let
me repeat this verse in the form of a question: The exceeding greatness
of His power to us is to do what? We are to believe, according to
the working of His mighty power! We must know God's Word in order
to believe what we learn in the scriptures. We read it, study it,
and put it on in our hearts to know about God's mighty power! It
is God's heart for us to know His superabundant power. The lessons
contained in the Bible are waiting to open up to us so that we may
become Masters of His Word; so we can believe and act upon His Word!
Let's
continue with Ephesians 1:20-21:
Which
he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and set
him at his own right hand in the heavenly places,
Far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion,
and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also
in that which is to come.
Think
about it for a minute. If God is in Christ (2 Corinthians 5:19)
and it is Christ in you (Colossians 1:27), then every situation
is under your feet as stated in Ephesians 1:20-21. Just take a moment
and really ponder what God's Word declares. It is God in Christ
in us! There is nothing in this world that can defeat us! Yet most
Christians walk around feeling defeated and lost and beat up by
this world. Why? Because they have not mastered God's Word! They
do not truly see themselves in Christ. They do not act as if all
things are under their feet. There are two reasons why this occurs:
1. They have not renewed their minds to say what God's Word says
or 2. They have no knowledge of God's Word.
Most of us do not realize we have this authority and power in Christ.
And even if we do know, we get talked out it by other unbelieving
believers. The world and the religious leaders constantly remind
us of our sins of the past, trying to keep us sin conscious! We
go around trying to redeem ourselves from these sins. We don't have
to! God's Word's tells us our life has been redeemed by Jesus Christ.
Our sins have been paid for by Jesus Christ! We must focus on the
Savior from sin, the Lord Jesus Christ. God has taken care of the
sin problem through His son! This is what being a Master of God's
Word is all about. We know the Word, we believe the Word, and we
live the Word every day in all we do and say.
Let's look at Ephesians 1:22:
And
hath put all things under his feet, and gave him [Jesus Christ]
to be the head over all things to the church.
I renew
my mind daily to confess what God's Word says I am. I have what
God has given me through Christ! How many things is Jesus Christ
the head over? He is the head of all in the church. We take our
orders from Jesus Christ! We learn the lessons in God's Word.
We must understand this spiritually in order to be Masters of God's
Word. Look at yourself for a second. Isn't your physical head connected
to the rest of your body? Then why won't your spiritual head also
be tied to your spiritual body? God's Word tells us that spiritually
Christ is our head! When Christ is our spiritual head, then our
spiritual body follows Christ. Jesus Christ mastered God's Word
and always did the will of his Father God! And so, to must we!
Ephesians 1:23 tells us:
Which
is his body, the fulness of him that filleth.
We
are the body of Christ! And we have the fullness of Christ! John
1:16 extends this by stating:
And
of his fulness have all we received, and grace for grace.
When
we are born again of God's Spirit, we receive in that spirit the
fullness of Christ! Grace in God's Word is defined as God's unmerited
divine favor!
Turn to Colossians 2:9:
For
in him [Jesus Christ] dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead
bodily.
The
God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ is the head God! Continue
with Colossians 2:10:
And
ye are complete in him [Jesus Christ], which is the head
of all principality and power.
God's
Word says we are what? Complete! Now we must renew our minds to
say what God's Word says. I am complete in Christ. We are in the
body of Christ and we are complete in him! He is the head of all
principality and power. Now we just give thanks to God our Father
for this completeness.
Continue with 2 Corinthians: 2:14:
Now
thanks be unto God, which always causeth us to triumph in Christ,
and maketh manifest the savour [sweet smell] of his knowledge
by us in every place.
Thank
you, Father, for always causing us to triumph in Christ! We just
can't be defeated. Once we are Masters of God's Word - have the
knowledge of God's Word and practice it in our daily walk - we will
experience the more abundant life. Remember - to Master God's Word,
we must read it, put it on in our hearts, and walk it each and every
day.
Colossians 1:9-11 is an additional prayer along the same lines as
Ephesians 1:17-18:
For
this cause we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to
pray for you, and to desire that ye might be filled with the knowledge
of his [God's] will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding;
That ye might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being
fruitful [propagating] in every good work, and increasing
in the knowledge of God.
The
only way to increase in the knowledge of God, is to Master His Word
which is His will. We must do as 2 Timothy 2:15 tells us:
Studying
to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needed not to
be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
Because
of our love for God our Father, we must become Masters of His Word
which is His Will. If we love God, our Father we keep His Word!
And we can't keep God's Word if we don't know it. We must practice
2 Timothy 2:15 continually and consistently. We must "study
to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needed not to
be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth." Through
study, practice, and walking-the-walk, we can become Masters of
God's Word.
My beloved brothers and sisters in Christ, don't go by what men
or women say about God's Word. Study it and make it your own! God
gave us His Word, so we can know His Will for us! Because we love
God our Father with all our soul, heart, mind and strength, we labor
to Master His Word which is His Will in order to demonstrate our
love for Him.
Father, I thank you for your Word that tells us your Will for our
life. I thank you for what you did for us through Christ Jesus.
Father, I thank you for giving us the spirit of wisdom and revelation
in the knowledge of you. Thank you for flooding our eyes with light.
Thank you that we know what the hope of your calling is, the riches
of your glory and the inheritance of all born-again believers. In
the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, Amen.
