In
the August 2017 teaching, we focused on
God's Word as our refuge and strength and defined our "Standing,"
"State" and "Fellowship." According to the scriptures,
our "Standing" is one of a son or daughter of God. God
is our Father and we are His children. Our "State" is
our "Fellowship" with God. This is our walk on God's Word.
We learned when we break "Fellowship" with God, we need
to confess our broken "Fellowship." The Bible tells us
that God is always faithful and just to forgive us our broken "Fellowship."
This is God's love for us!
This month's teaching will continue to focus on God's Word as our
refuge and strength. We will see how God's Word serves as our refuge
and strength regarding our walk in Fellowship with God.
The Word of God is the Will of God. And God has magnified His Word
above His name. Psalm 138:2:
I
will worship toward thy holy temple, and praise thy name for thy
lovingkindness and for thy truth: for thou hast magnified thy
word above all thy name.
God
magnified His Word above His name. Jesus Christ declares God's magnified
Word. We are to let the word of Christ dwell within us richly. Colossians
3:16-17 says:
Let
the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching
and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual
songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.
And
whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord
Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him.
Hebrews
4:12 declares:
For
the word of God is quick [living], and powerful [energetic],
and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing
asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and
is a discerner [critic] of the thoughts and intents of
the heart.
The
only way we can have fellowship with God and His Son is to know
the Word of God and do it day-by-day. The Word of God is the critic
(the standard of how man should walk in fellowship with God and
His Son) of man. The Word of God determines a man's stature. The
place that the Word has in your life will determine how far you
are going to go with God. To the believers, the Word of God is the
Word of life. 2 Corinthians 6:2:
(For
he saith, I have heard thee in a time accepted, and in the day
of salvation have I succoured thee: behold, now is the accepted
time; behold, now is the day of salvation.)
To
have fellowship with God and His Son we must first perform Romans
10:9-10. Let's read these verses:
That
if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt
believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead,
thou shalt be saved.
For
with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the
mouth confession is made unto salvation.
Once
you are born-again, it is God in Christ in you (sonship) and you
in Christ (fellowship)! As sons of God (1 John 3:2), we must first
seek the kingdom of God and his righteousness via His Word. Matthew
6:33:
But
seek you first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and
all these things shall be added unto you.
The
heart of Christianity, my brothers and sisters, is the Father God
through Jesus Christ building Himself in us through His revealed
Word. Our moment-by-moment living is like the Lord Jesus Christ.
Now you must renew you mind to walking by God's Word. Romans 12:2
tells us:
And
be not conformed to this world: but be you transformed by the
renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good, and
acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
People,
the only way we can know what is good, acceptable, and the perfect
will of God is by knowing God's Word. There is no other way to know
God's Will without knowing His Word. I want with all my heart to
follow that which God's Word declares we have in Christ Jesus. I
want to renew my mind to say what God's Word says and to do what
His Word says. I believe that's why you read these teachings, so
you can know God's Word and do it so that you can have power in
your walk.
We
must study God's Word so we can rightly divide the word of truth.
God's Word is our point of contact with Him. It is His Word that
brings us to a place where we become completely one with God and
His Son. 2 Timothy 2:15 says:
Study
to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not
to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
Why
do we study? To show ourselves approved to God by rightly dividing
the Word of truth. Once we have rightly divided the Word of truth,
we can walk on that truth day-by-day. Let's look at some scriptures
on our walk. Romans 6:4:
Therefore,
we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ
was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so
we also should walk in newness of life.
We
put away our old life before we were born-again and walk in newness
of our new life in Christ Jesus where there is no condemnation.
Romans 8:1:
There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ
Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.
We
want to walk honestly with God and His Word. Romans 13:13:
Let
us walk honestly, as in the day; not in rioting and drunkenness,
not in chambering and wantonness, not in strife and envying.
We
don't walk in the flesh as men or women. 1 Corinthians 3:3:
For
you are yet carnal: for whereas there is among you envying, and
strife, and divisions, are you not carnal, and walk as men?
According
to God's Word, when we walk as men and women in the flesh we exhibit
the following: rioting, drunkenness, strife, envying and divisions.
When we walk by the spirit of God we will not handle the word of
God deceitfully. We manifest the truth in the sight of God. 2 Corinthians
4:2 says:
But
have renounced the hidden things of dishonesty, not walking in
craftiness, nor handling the word of God deceitfully; but by manifestation
of the truth commending ourselves to every man's conscience in
the sight of God.
2 Corinthians
5:7: goes on to say:
(For
we walk by faith [believing], not by sight:)
As
we walk by the spirit we won't fulfill the lust of the flesh. Galatians
5:16: says:
This
I say then, walk in [by] the Spirit [the gift in manifestation],
and you shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.
Galatians
5:25: tells us:
If
we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit [the gift
in manifestation].
We
are God masterpiece! Ephesians 2:10:
For
we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works,
which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.
Our
walk must always be a walk of light in the Lord. Ephesians 5:8:
For
you were sometimes darkness [blindness], but now are you light
in the Lord: walk as children of light.
Now
we are light and we walk as children of the light. We are not only
born-again, we walk and talk like we are born-again. We not only
know the Word, we live it and we speak it. What God's Word says,
we do! We walk worthy of the Lord's calling. 1Thessalonians 2:12:
That
you would walk worthy of God, who hath called you unto his kingdom
and glory.
1Thessalonians
4:1 goes on to say:
Furthermore,
then we beseech you, brethren, and exhort you by the Lord Jesus,
that as you have received of us how you ought to walk and to please
God, so you would abound more and more.
When
we make up our minds moment-by-moment and day-by-day to do God our
Father's Will, to do those things that please Him, have the same
purpose as our Father God, say what His Word says, know that His
Word is everlasting, and speak as our Father said in His Word, we
are walking in alignment and harmony with God our Father!
The
Word of God in Philippians 4:13 says "I can do all things
[in God's Word] through Christ which strengthened me."
Now it is up to us to renew our minds and do it! Do you now believe?
My
brothers and sisters in Christ the only way we can know what is
good and acceptable and the perfect Will of God is by knowing God's
Word. There is no other way to know God's Will without knowing His
Word. So, we must study God's Word so we can rightly divide the
word of truth. God's Word is our refuge and strength. It is our
walk on His Word that brings us to a place where we become completely
one with God and His Son. Galatians 2:20 tells us:
I
am [was] crucified with Christ: nevertheless, I live; yet
not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live
in the flesh I live by the faith [believing] of the Son
of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.
Brothers
and sisters, the Word of God tells me that men and woman who grow
deeply spiritual are men and women who allow the Word of God to
be fully declared to them. They walk in the fullness of the greatness
of the Word of God. For this cause we also, since the day we heard
it, do not cease to pray for you, and to desire that you might be
filled with the knowledge of His will in all wisdom and spiritual
understanding. That you might walk worthy of the Lord to all pleasing,
being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge
of God; Strengthened with all might, according to his glorious power,
to all patience and longsuffering with joyfulness (Colossians 1:9-11).
In
summary, we learned that God has magnified His Word above His name.
The greatest commitment ever made was God's commitment to His Word.
Jesus Christ declares God's magnified Word. And we are to let the
Word of Christ dwell within us richly. The only way we can walk
with God and His Son is to know the Word of God and do it day- by-
day.
In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, Amen.
Next
month's teaching will continue to look at the Word of God as our
refuge and strength.
