The
November
2016 article presented the Renewed Mind as the keys to the unlimited
power that we have in Christ and the ability to walk with power
in this day and time. The Renewed Mind walk is to believe in your
mind what God's Word says, practice God's Word, walk God's Word,
do God's Word, say God's Word, live God's Word, and manifest God's
Word in our day-by-day life. In other words, what God's Word declares,
we do it!
This
month's teaching will discuss the announcement and birth of Jesus.
We will also learn about Jesus at twelve years old. We are just
going to enjoy reading God's Word concerning the birth of Jesus.
|
To
start, let us read Luke 1:26-38: The angel announcement of the
birth of Jesus. |
And
in the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent from God unto a
city of Galilee, named Nazareth [Nazareth means branch town],
To a virgin espoused to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house
of David; and the virgin's name was Mary.
And the angel came in unto her, and said, Hail, thou that art
highly favoured, the Lord is with thee: blessed art thou among
women.
And when she saw him [not in any critical Greek texts],
she was troubled at his saying, and cast in her mind what manner
of salutation this should be.
And the angel said unto her, Fear not, Mary: for thou hast found
favour [divine grace] with God.
And, behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb [God created
sperm, soul life in Mary's womb], and bring forth a son, and
shalt call his name Jesus [means the "Lord our savior"
or "the Lord is salvation"].
He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Highest:
and the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of his father
David:
And he shall reign over the house of Jacob forever; and of his
kingdom there shall be no end.
Then said Mary unto the angel, how shall this be, seeing I know
not a man [intercourse to conceived a child reference Genesis
4:1 - And Adam knew Eve his wife; and she conceived, and bare
Cain, and said, I have gotten a man from the Lord].
And the angel answered and said unto her, The Holy Ghost [Spirit]
shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow
[cover - God created sperm in Mary] thee: therefore, also
that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the
Son of God.
And, behold, thy cousin Elisabeth, she hath also conceived a son
in her old age: and this is the sixth month with her, who was
called barren.
For with God nothing shall be impossible [God cannot do anything
that would contradict His Word].
And Mary said, Behold the handmaid of the Lord; be it unto me
according to thy word. And the angel departed from her.
|
A
little later in Matthew 1:18-25: we learn about Mary, Joseph,
and the angel. |
Now
the birth of Jesus Christ was on this wise: When as his mother
Mary was espoused to Joseph, before they came together [sexual
relationship], she was found with child of the Holy Ghost.
Then Joseph her husband, being a just man [wanting to obey
the law], and not willing to make her a public example, was
minded to put her away privity [secretly].
But while he thought on these things, behold, the angel of the
Lord [Jehovah] appeared unto him in a dream, saying, Joseph,
thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for
that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost.
And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name
Jesus: for he shall save his people [Israel] from their
sins.
Now all this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken
of the Lord [Jehovah] by the prophet,
saying, behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring
forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being
interpreted is, God with us [because of what God created].
Then Joseph being raised from sleep did as the angel of the Lord
[Jehovah] had bidden him, and took unto him his wife [they
had sex]:
And [but] knew her not [reference Genesis 4:1] till she
had brought forth her firstborn son: and he called his name Jesus.
|
In
Luke 2:1-20, we see the wonder of the birth of Jesus. |
And
it came to pass in those days, that there went out a decree from
Caesar Augustus that all the world should be taxed.
(And this taxing was first made when Cyrenius was governor of
Syria.)
And all went to be taxed, every one into his own city.
And Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth,
into Judaea, unto the city of David, which is called Bethlehem
[house of bread]; (because he was of the house and lineage
of David:)
To be taxed with Mary his espoused wife, being great with child.
And so it was, that, while they were there, the days were accomplished
that she should be delivered.
And she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling
clothes, and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for
them in the inn.
And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field,
keeping watch over their flock by night.
And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of
the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid.
And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you
good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people.
For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, which
is Christ the Lord.
And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe [Aramaic:
ula, Greek: brephos, both meaning a newly delivered
babe] wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger.
And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly
host praising God, and saying,
glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward
men.
And it came to pass, as the angels were gone away from them into
heaven, the shepherds said one to another, Let us now go even
unto Bethlehem, and see this thing which is come to pass, which
the Lord hath made known unto us.
And they came with haste, and found Mary, and Joseph, and the
babe lying in a manger.
And when they had seen it, they made known abroad the saying which
was told them concerning this child.
And all they that heard it wondered at those things which were
told them by the shepherds.
But Mary kept all these things, and pondered them in her heart.
And the shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all
the things that they had heard and seen, as it was told unto them.

Matthew
2:1-23, illuminates the arrival of the Wise men from the east
to Jerusalem. |
Now
when Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judaea in the days of Herod
the king, behold, there came wise men [Magi] from the east
to Jerusalem,
saying, where is he that is born King of the Jews? for we have
seen his star in the east, and are come to worship him.
When Herod the king had heard these things, he was troubled, and
all Jerusalem with him.
And when he had gathered all the chief priests and scribes of
the people together, he demanded of them where Christ should be
born.
And they said unto him, In Bethlehem of Judaea: for thus it is
written by the prophet,
and thou Bethlehem, in the land of Juda, art not the least among
the princes of Juda: for out of thee shall come a Governor, that
shall rule my people Israel.
Then Herod, when he had privily called the wise men, enquired
of them diligently what time the star appeared.
And he sent them to Bethlehem, and said, Go and search diligently
for the young child [Aramaic: Talya, Greek: paidion];
and when ye have found him, bring me word again, that I may come
and worship him also.
When they had heard the king, they departed; and, lo, the star,
which they saw in the east, went before them, till it came and
stood over where the young child [Aramaic: Talya, Greek:
paidion] was.
When they saw the star, they rejoiced with exceeding great joy.
And when they were come into the house, they saw the young child
[Aramaic: Talya, Greek: paidion] with Mary
his mother, and fell down, and worshipped him: and when they had
opened their treasures, they presented unto him gifts; gold, and
frankincense and myrrh.
And being warned of God in a dream that they should not return
to Herod, they departed into their own country another way.
And when they were departed, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared
to Joseph in a dream, saying, Arise, and take the young child
and his mother, and flee into Egypt, and be thou there until I
bring thee word: for Herod will seek the young child to destroy
him.
When he arose, he took the young child and his mother by night,
and departed into Egypt:
And was there until the death of Herod: that it might be fulfilled
which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying, Out of Egypt
have I called my son.
Then Herod, when he saw that he was mocked of the wise men, was
exceeding wroth, and sent forth, and slew all the children that
were in Bethlehem, and in all the coasts thereof, from two years
old and under, according to the time which he had diligently inquired
of the wise men.
Then was fulfilled that which was spoken by Jeremiah the prophet,
saying,
in Rama was there a voice heard, lamentation, and weeping, and
great mourning, Rachel weeping for her children, and would not
be comforted, because they are not.
But when Herod was dead, behold, an angel of the Lord appeareth
in a dream to Joseph in Egypt,
saying, Arise, and take the young child and his mother, and go
into the land of Israel: for they are dead which sought the young
child's life.
And he arose, and took the young child [Aramaic: Talya,
Greek: paidion] and his mother, and came into the land
of Israel.
But when he heard that Archelaus did reign in Judaea in the room
of his father Herod, he was afraid to go thither: notwithstanding,
being warned of God in a dream, he turned aside into the parts
of Galilee:
And he came and dwelt in a city called Nazareth: that it might
be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophets, He shall be called
a Nazarene.
Just
from reading the above scriptures and filling in the who,
what, when, where and why you could
learn and grow concerning Jesus and his birth. Here is an example,
so you can learn how to understand and gain more wisdom concerning
the Word.
Matthew 2:1-23
Who: The wise men [Magi], Herod, chief priests and scribes,
Mary and the young child Jesus and Joseph.
What: Now when Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judaea in the
days of Herod the king, behold, there came wise men from the east
to Jerusalem, saying, "Where is he that is born King of the
Jews? For we have seen his star in the east, and are come to worship
him."
When: When Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judaea in the days
of Herod the king.
Where: Bethlehem of Judaea. And when they were come into
the house, they saw the young child [Aramaic: Talya
Greek: paidion] with Mary his mother, and fell down.
Why: The Wise Men wanted to know "Where is he that is
born King of the Jews? for we have seen his star in the east, and
are come to worship him and when they had opened their treasures,
they presented unto him gifts; gold, and frankincense and myrrh."
|
Finally
let's read Luke 2:40 (Jesus, the child), Luke 2:41 & 42-52
(Jesus ,age twelve years old).
|
And
the child grew, and waxed strong in spirit ["in spirit"
is not in the Greek texts], filled with wisdom: and the grace
of God was upon him.
Now his parents went to Jerusalem every year at the feast of the
passover.
And when he was twelve years old, they went up to Jerusalem after
the custom of the feast.
And when they had fulfilled the days, as they returned, the child
Jesus tarried behind in Jerusalem; and Joseph and his mother knew
not of it.
But they, supposing him to have been in the company, went a day's
journey; and they sought him among their kinsfolk and acquaintance.
And when they found him not, they turned back again to Jerusalem,
seeking him.
And it came to pass, that after three days they found him in the
temple, sitting in the midst of the doctors, both hearing them,
and asking them questions.
And all that heard him were astonished at his understanding and
answers.
And when they saw him, they were amazed: and his mother said unto
him, Son, why hast thou thus dealt with us? behold, thy father
and I have sought thee sorrowing.
And he said unto them, How is it that ye sought me? wist ye not
that I must be about my Father's business?
And they understood not the saying which he spake unto them.
And he went down with them, and came to Nazareth, and was subject
unto them: but his mother kept all these sayings in her heart.
And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in favour with
God and man.
People,
these wonderful insights take thirty minutes to read. We could spend
months expounding on the above scriptures, but at this time, let
us enjoy the Word of God about His beloved son.
Remember
to use the who, what, when, where and why so that you could learn
and grow concerning God's Word. We must believe God's Word is His
Will; that is what He said and that is what He intended! I thank
God for His son the Lord Jesus Christ, and what God wrought in Christ
so that we can have eternal life. We, who believed on the Lord Jesus,
shall do works he did and greater works than these shall we do!
(see John 14:12) 1 Thessalonians 2:13 tells us:
For
this cause also thank we God without ceasing, because, when you
received the Word of God which you heard of us, you received it
not as the Word of men, but as it is in truth, the Word of God,
which effectually worketh also in you that believe.
Glory
to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.
In summary, we discussed the announcement and birth of Jesus. ,We
also looked at scripture concerning Jesus at age twelve years old.
Let us pray in the Word of Ephesians 3:14-21:
For
this cause I bow my knees unto the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,
Of whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named;
That he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory,
to be strengthened with might by his Spirit in the inner man;
That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being
rooted and grounded in love,
May be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth,
and length, and depth, and height;
And to know the love of Christ, which passed knowledge, that ye
might be filled with all the fullness of God.
Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all
that we ask or think, according to the power that worked in us,
unto him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all
ages, world without end. Amen.
Next
month's teaching will be on some of the things we have in Christ
now according to God's Word.
